This is a good place to find out with everyone all over the country. :)

Chris C is the person to ask about Hounds :p :D

Magasines like Loot often have pedigree dogs and cats sections in them, and there are a few mags in WHSmiths which would have breeder ads in.

Give a rescue dog a home.

There are enough dogs out there looking for homes, or are you just looking for a fashion statement rather than a companion?

Erm i want a pup, you know to train from young

I say you go for a Pit. There very good dogs if you wanna scare any burglars or unwanted people away from ur property. Also when u walk down the street when u take it for a walk no1 will dare step in your way. :D

Why am I not suprised? ;)

Battersea dogs home or any branch of NCDL (Dog's trust) always has puppies looking for home.

Sorry, but I feel very strongly about breeding dogs for money.

i don't, however want to offend anyone. No, not even you Faisal!!!!

Tim

I totally agree with Tim on this one, too much money is involved with too much breeding.

Chris, what ever you choose to do, good luck mate :)

No worrys Tim i was just advising that its better to have a puppy from young when you want a dog to be trained for security and a Pit is very good for those kind of jobs. But if you want a family pet then ur idea is perfect and i totally agree with you on that.

It all depends on what you want at the end of the day.

As the phrase goes "u cant teach an old dog new tricks"

But from what chris said i dont think he wants a family pet more of a label (am i right or just chatting it again) :D

Gotta say a leaning towards rescue centres here for pets. I can understand the desire to get one from a small puppy (and certainly would not argue against it) but it is a form of slavery.

This is true but mainly because they'll think (as Billy Connolly once said about pitbulls) "you're a member of the spectacular tattood f***wit brigade"

So i take it nobody knows of any Springers for sale then :D

Yeah i am looking for a family pet. I've had dogs all my life, but my last one died 2 Christmas's ago and i've been lost without one.

My last dog was from a local pound so i have been doing my bit ;) he was left on a local beech and was very hard work being so scared and frightened of people, this time i would like to start from scratch :)

So buy a puppy from a NCDL home.

Failing that buy an inbred pedigree with all the genetic **** ups that that brings, not to mention the shortened lifespan.

My old mutt has been with me 12 years and I still remember carrying him down the escalators after collecting him from Battersea Dog's Home.

I personally, would never pay for a dog.

You can train ANY puppy.

I wouldnt say it shortens their life span. My 2 dogs only lived 7 and 8 years and they where pure bread. My friend had a dog called Heinz and lived for 24 years.

.

I can whole heartedly recommend "The Long Nosed ,short legged, long tailed Manchester Terrier. Hope this helps, Some people know them by there more common name of,Crocodile.

I can give you the telephone numbers of a few:o

Sorry to say this Chris but if its a pet you want Do not get a spinger they F*****g nuts and don't settle down until they are about 5yrs of age. I know from experience. These dogs are bread for one purpose alone and they must be well schooled and worked hard or they will wreck the joint. They are not great with kids either. They'll chase anything and I mean anything, From cats, birds, cars, sheep infact the one my outlaws had chased 2 sheep off a cliff and somehow survied. Chased a bird that was flying and ran through a greenhouse and demolished it chased a cat into an antique shop and destroyed it. Talk to a breader mate, they are mad. Get a lab or Newfoundland or great dane or even a cockerspanial if you want a pet, but, and I mean it , don't get a spinger unless you know what your doing.
