Hi

Wheres the best/easiest place to wire in the light for a gauge, in the cabin, so that it comes on with the headlights?

Is there a "usual" wire to tap into? And where is it? I guess the RHS console would be a start? ;)

Also, whats the easiest place to wire into in the cabin which is live all the time with the electrics turned on? Dont ask what for! You might not like the answer!!

Could I tap both of these (positive?) into the appropriate wires of the radio harness? And simply earth the other wire (negative??) to a decent earthing point? Or do I wire them in a loop to/from the harness, in parallel?

I dont trust myself 100% with electrics...:)

Cheers

Pete

Pete, for your gauge light , you could either use the ashtray light or the glovebox light , both will give you the positive signal when the lights are turned on :)

I use the ashray light.

Cool cheers boys

Do I tap the positive wire in the ashtray positive then earth the negative?

Pete

The stock clock has every wire you need mate and is very easy to get to.

It has 4 wires:

1) earth

2) 12V live

3) 12V ignition live

4) 12V sidelights live

Yep! Just tap the bulb positive wire (it's already earthed!!)

Works a treat I use it as a signal wire for my 3!!

:D:D:D:D Told you you wouldnt like it ;)

I thought depending on the load you may need a small relay.

if you try and take a lot of juice from the std +ve you may trip a fuse.

easiest place, if your on the o/s A pillar would be directly off the light swich. nice & easy to get to :)

I would use a relay as nightbreeder suggested (if for neons)??

They're only small interior ones, is there a (?max current) limit I should use a relay if it goes over that limit?

it depends on how my volts the unit draws as to which piece of equipment your putting it on in the car ie, whats the fuse maximum load, if it excedes this use a relay to be safe.

jim;)

The 4" Neon from what I remember recommend being plugged into a cigarette lighter - the reason for this is more current can be drawn from the lighter as its on a higher fuse rating.

Personally, I would have thought that they would need a relay then, but its up 2 you. If you can point me to the specs i.e. wattage, etc I'll have a quick ganders and see if they can be direct wired into your lighting circuit. Worst comes to worst though you may need a small relay. These are easy to wire up tho'
