Vacuum Metalizing

£250 or (£215 for subscribed forum members)

+ £50 retainer

This price assumes upon receiving the modifies headlights, you will be sending your old headlights to me with no damage to them. I will be sending the headlights out without the 2 metal retaining brackets on the underside of each headlight or the 4 metal clamps that secure the rubber surround(2 small screws to each piece of metal). The purpose of this is to save you money on postage both ways. If you opt to send me your headlights before I send you the modified lights, extra costs will be requested if these metal clips and brackets are not taken off. It also assumes that there are no faults on the headlights and any other repairs with be at an additional cost.

**********************************************************

The inserts are proffesionally prepaired and then go through another 4 phase metalized vaccuming processs. Please do not attempt to remove or change the appearance of the inserts by sanding them or by any other method as this could cause problems for when they are going through the metalizing process.

Because of the very nature of headlights, most of you will require them on a daily basis. Hence, when you place an order with me, I send out a completed set of lights. I would like to think that you will get your headlights back to me with in 2 weeks so that that the next batch can be sent off and return you your £50 retainer.

You will notice that the prices have changed since the last time I was offering this service. This is due to the surface of the inserts not being smooth enough to work on and needing to be professionally prepaired.

However, you must appreciate that I am working on second hand parts that have been previously worked on so the finish, although very good, is not always immacualtely perfect. By this I mean that the reflectiveness will always be there, but if there are any imperfections in the plastic, they will appear.

Vacuum metalizing is not like paint spraying. It is about 10 times finer hence the reason for any minute imperfections appearing. Nevertheless, I do always try to provide a decent pair. I haven't had any complaints so far!

If you do decide to go for the upgrade, which ever option you choose, make sure that they are packaged VERY WELL and that they are in a large box, and insuranced for up to £1000. The reason for this is because you can not buy the inserts separately and so will have to fork out over £250 per headlight. If you send them with no insurance, I can not be held responsible for the condition that they arrive in.

When sending the whole units, DO NOT send them only by recorded delivery. If the glass gets damaged, it is only covered on Special Delivery.

Trust me, I know this from painful experience!

Did you ever get around to doing this video comparision?

Am thinking about doing the HID lights and whether its worth getting them coated at the same time?

Zcar

Have not yet fitted them in to some headlights because I have not had any spare. However, I should be picking some up tomorrow and so will try and get the video done early next week.

What exactly are you wanting to see. Is it the overall quality of the finish or the difference light projection?

Cheers

Cos

Cos,

I want to see how much better they are than the previous! I still have your old CD with the bacofoil upgrade on and want to see how much better they are!

Am toying with spending the cash on this or the HID upgrade, but wanna know which ones best befroe I part with my hard earned!!

Don't blame you mate.

Have just finished putting a pair together. The finish on the plastic is mirror quality. I know from doing the bacofoil in the past, although the vinyl/foil was flush to the plastic with no bubbles, there was still imperfections in the finish.

I won't lie to you and say that either the foil or the metalized finish is better than the Xenon, because it's not. But the metalized finish does improve visability, especially with 100W bulbs. Before I did mine, the lights on the wife's Rover were better. After doing mine and using 55w bulbs, they were about the same. Once I popped in the 100w bulbs, they were a lot better, and I would consider the lights on her rover to be very good.

However, I have seen a Z with both the foil conversion and the Xenon kit and the night time visability is just rediculous.

You can see the finished artical on my sig and I will try and take a couple of pics with insert in the headlight, if my camera ever decides to work. However, as far a visability, there won't be much diference between the foil or metalized finish, only that it will look more professional.

HTH

Camera aint brill but these were taken 5 minutes ago.

Cheers Cos mate, they do look like a better finish than the bacofoil. Thanks for being honest as well. I think I will try the HID conversion first and might consider these as a additon to that for the ultimate z lighting! :D :D

Thanks for all your help

No probs - and let us know how you get on with the HID's.

I think once the price drops on the kits a bit, a lot of people on this forum will go for the GB.

Will do.

Dont know if they will drop. The guy supplying them in germany is putting 10 to one side for a 300zx.co.uk group buy at a reduced price, where normally he sells em on the ebay thing for a lot more!

Cheers Cos.
