Ok what was your first rel serious sideways experience?

Man comming home on the A3 today in the rain, go around the roundabout and power out in second, and BAM!!! Completly sideways, and the funny thing was i managed to control it into a beautifull powerslide alll the way through 3rd gear (the road had no cars and run off on both sides), it was a fantastic feeling...

The other times ive been sideways have never been on purpose lol

Did the same 2 days in to my latest import TT still had the jap spec tyres on and was`nt raining but the road was wet.Realised quickly that no amount of clever suspebsion 4 wheel steer etc was gonna help, got some Dunlop directionals on know and they are exceptionally good in the wet.

leaving craigs BBQ needed both sides of the road though. you have mail jeff

The first time i went sideways was coming out of the first roundabout i came to after picking the car up smile.gif It only went slightly, but i still shit myself. I drove very slowly after that all the way home, until i got used to the car.

The next time was coming out of of a T junction with traffic lights. I ended up facing back the way i came from, which was quite embarasing.

I tend to go sideways a lot nowadays, but mostly on purpose while showing off smile.gif

Haven't been sideways yet...

Must be an auto' thing...

Wahts an auto thing, mine is a manual, althoguh i would think it would be easier in a manual?? dont know.

I meant - mines an auto, maybe that's why I haven't had it sideways yet..

Or perhaps I'm just not trying hard enough..

It's pretty easy by mistake in an auto until you've sussed how to drive it. I scared myself bad in the dry at a T junction - booted it while turning right, the back kept going and I was kind of sideways while trying to get the car through a gap between two road island things. It was close. Also suprised my self and a small audience at a mini roundabout in the wet once - I was a bit careless, the turbos spun up, the box dropped a gear and I was suddenly looking out the side window. Fortunately there was a dual cariageway on the exit and I used both.

Also had a big moment overtaking a dawdler in the wet once ...

Yeah mines an auto too and both times involved a roundabout in the wet and a wet man hole cover. It's very easy in an auto to lose it. Just arrive at a roundabout in the wet, decide you want to go a fraction quicker, the box changes down, tonnes of boost suddenly appears and there you go. Careful! Like AndyP says, you have to learn how to drive an auto in the wet as it can get pretty scary at times!
