I scanned these out of my ever-useful 'Nissan 300zx Enthusiasts Companion'.

Would you have bought one if the concept had turned out like this? Interesting to see the development.

I like the red 1 at the bottom best......:slap: ;)

Here's another photo of three, in black and white-

'...Final choice was between these three full-size mock-ups. The top one has an unusual rear window treatment and heavy centre pillars. At centre is the proposal from the NDI studio in California with glassy cabin and concelled headlamps. At the bottom is the design finally chosen, developed at NTC in Japan. Later modifications were made to the angle of the headlamps, the panel between them, and the rear quarter windows.

ha ha. It doesn't have a crack team of Japanese engineers perfecting every detail though

the top one in the first post is very similar to the S13.

I was thinking that 1st B&W one is a R32 front with a 944 back (with an up-twist). Dunno what's going on in the middle tho... Trans Am?!

The 2nd one looks kinda Probe / Mazda (euch).

The 3rd looks kinda familiar ;) Guess they decided the rad might actually need a hole in the front bumper to keep it cool. And no intercoolers (it's an NA at that stage tho?). I'm kinda getting toward liking the back end with no spoiler... always looked a bit after-thought to me.

The colour pics - didn't anyone realise you need to be able to see out of the glass?! I don't like the silver one tho - looks too Citroen XM! That's probably the wheels tho. Kinda liking the black/silver one tho - very late 70's muscle.

The top one looks like the front end off an R32 skylark!

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

they are all awful tbh (well apart from the real one of course, but even that didnt look all that jaw dropping in the drawing)

I don't think they are drawings. The books seems to say they are full-scale mock-ups, but here's another page of concept art. Fancy one of these?...

Yeah I've got the book - very interesting reading. The middle pic looks as if Nissan sold the concept to Ford for the Probe!!!

That first one looks like the new Porsche... doncha think? With the superlong Capri-style pointy bonnet.

thank God they used a San Diego design studio  ;)

top one in grey photo looks like half a S14 200SX and the rear is like a Posche 944 ?

Was reading an article on the new "Skylines" last night, which are more like Lexus competitors, RWD, sort of a 350 made uglier and less sporty. Not Skylines at all!

Now they -are- vile. I thought for a moment Chris Bangle had defected to Nissan!

Don't forget Skyline's aren't just GTRs.....in Japan there's a whole family of them, including 4 door versions.

I quite like the new coupe version. I believe it's called the Infiniti G35 (or something like that) in the States. Saw a couple in California earlier this year. It's sort of toned-down 350 with back seats.

The real GTR (in fact Nissan might drop the Skyline tag when it finally appears), isn't due until '07. Hope it's worth the wait.

Strange how they can't deliver a concept car, I think the lotus elite and the Lambo Countach are about the only supercar concepts to survive into production without massive changes.

I thought that they had 2 lots of designers working on consepts. One in America and one in Japan and only the best design would be used. They used the Japanese one.
