I'm in college now trying to pay attention to the course also that's y i didn't notice to who you were talking.

No mate, you didn't offend me.

But let's ne realistic. Nobody likes the fact that the Turks invaded and divided Cyprus, nobody likes the fact that the north part acts like a proper country in order to be recognised as one.

Me and you can't do nothing about it, it's all in the hands of the politicians. And the Turkish politicians are not very eager for resolving this matter.

PS. There are facts about the whole era before/during/after the invasion that are not really talked about anywhere. I studied the same history books you studied and they do not mention all the facts

Yes Pampos - I am Greek Cypriot.

I agree 100%. The truth very rarely comes to the surface due to all the arse licking and side stepping. However, being a patriot of my roots, I have too say, and I'm sure that you would agree that no country wants to merge with another. The UK has a lot of history but I'm sure that Ireland would want to keep thier independance.

Nevertheless, I'm sure the Cyprus "Thing" will eventually get sorted. Mind, would be nice if it was in my lifetime.

And before anybody starts jumping on thier horse saying that I don't know what it's like for Turkish Cypriots living in the northern half - I do, because I use to go out with a girl that lived their. Long story and it caused more shit within my famiily than you can believe. Would I do it again if I went back in time? Oh YES!

As i said i post this becuase i was boring at work and wanted to know if anyone of been to Cyprus or if anyone coming in the near future so i can get good advise regarding my z. There is not a z expert here so we manage to do things fom the net or bringing s Koyama from Jun Japan to tune our cars but he charges 1000 pounds just to make a program. That guy is a genious on the zeds but money are not little

I remember my dad saying that he was sent to Cyprus after WWII when he was in the Royal Navy. I was only little when I heard this and can't really remember anything much, except that he hated it coz he had to hit refugees back into the water when they were trying to climb the sides of the ship. He died about 20 years ago so I can't ask him, but what's that story all about then?

x-biker your father was there during the English occupation of the island that's another part of the history's island so i don't know exactly what he meant

Yes Pete, to the south side, lovely WX, cheap beer and good night life. Go east for fun, go west for more family type stuff.

All hire cars have red number plates as it helps the locals know who to rob.

BarryD regarding roberring your right but beleive or not in Ayia Napa and the other places that has a lot of tourists they ripp us of 2. Most of the tourists don't realize it because is cheaper than their country but if go to Nicosia let's say you'll understand what's happening with the prices

Of course it'll be more expensive in the tourist resorts. It's the same in every country, isn't it? The idea is to make as much money from the tourists as possible.

I think Barry was implying that the red number plates allow local thieves to target tourists' hire cars. A similar number plate system was abandoned in Florida because tourists kept getting attacked.

I've been, Christmas 99, stayed in Limassol. We got a last minute deal on a package tour - luckily the tour rep spotted we were there because it was on a last-minute cheapy and just asked us if we'd like to be left alone all week to do our own thing, which we duly did.

We went pretty much everywhere from Larnaca round to Paphos, somewhere different every day, in a comedy 950cc fartmobile from Holiday Autos.

I can recommend grilled halloumi on the beach for Christmas lunch. :D

Yeah that's their way but i don't think they'll abondon the red plate system because if they do that they will have a strike due to the fact that the hiring companie's will have to buy new plates :) The plates are but also the 1st letter of the plate is a Z

If anyone of guys wants to come here is not a problem to put u up in my house for free but you should know a few things about the z or bring a gift with for the Z :)

Yes I do Pampos but I don't think that it's very fair for us to come on here talking/typing English/Greek because everyone wont understand.

Mail me if you like on cos.theo@mailcity.com

...and I do sometimes come to Cyprus but when you have a lot of family over there, sometimes you are not able to have a proper holiday because you have to go visiting them everyday.

Look forward to your email. BTW - do you know Nitropower, he is also a member on here and I think he is at the University of Limasol?

Hi Pambos

My best mate lives in a village just outside Protaras heading towards the border on the coast. He's been there for about 15 years. Not a bad life at all. I've been out twice to see him - the missus is never that keen as I seem to get in trouble a lot - and only saw one Z - a red one, no mods that I could see.

I plan to visit again this year....where abouts are you ?

Mark

I'm in the centre mate in Nicosia but in the summer i go to Ayia Napa and Protaras very often. I think there 20-30 zeds in the whole island.

  • Author

Send me an email when you will come to take for a tour in the rest of the island

My dad was based there in the army during the British occupation period but I don't have a clue what it was all about really

He was in Northern Ireland before that so had to be an improvement.

army wise im sure ive had a few relatives banged up there....

I've been to cyprus three times, love it there, paphos twice and limmasol once, its a great place to go and relax, the locals are some of the nicest people in the world although there were the occasional break out of fights amognst teenagers down by the harbour in paphos one year i went. Its one of those places that has something for everyone i guess, its nice going up into the mountain to find a small restaurant, one of the owners took our family out to see a dam one night, didn't charge or anything.

red number plates are an excellent idea, they show the locals where the idiots are :) around paphos you get a wider birth, if you are on a bike/scooter they generally get right of way with the locals...

Last time i went within an hour of landing we were over taken by an EVO 6, I also saw a zed in bar street in paphos.

I'll hopefully be going back again next year, I'm also considering moving out there for a year.
