1990 import - problems?

Hi all, I may be getting an imported 90TT, However I heard somewhere that 90 models may suffer from head gasket problems - is this true?

Is there any other things on a 90 I should look out for?

Thanks

I'm not aware of any head gasket problems on the 300 of any year.

According to the buyers guide some of the early 90's Zeds were prone to cylinder head and valve problems and also if it is an auto then the gearbox might be prone to have overheating problems ... particularly if they are high mileage.

HTH

Have a look at the buyers guide under the FAQ link.

Cheers Chris - knew I had read it somewhere.

Its a manual and I gotta wait till next week before I can see it so will check engine number then.

After reading somebody else's posts just now looks like the seatbelts will be off the doors??!!??

How the hell does that work?

Cheers people.

Don`t worry nightbreeder,,,my Jap 91 spec Z32 has belts on the doors and it works fine ,,,once the door is shut it all acts as one ,with the body shell,,,,how many km has yours done?

Just dont forget to unclip the belt before you open the door

I am sure weve all done it, LOL :D

The other problem is when the inertial reel sticks a little bit and doesn't quite reel in all the slack when you undo the belt.

Take seatbelt off, wait for turbos to cool, put CDs away, etc, switch off engine, leap out, close door with a flourish, CRUNCH as the dangling belt buckle catches in the jamb... can't tell you how many times I've done that getting Optimax.

Series II Z32 (91 onwards) have the belts on the B-pillar I think, so no problem.
