Driving a fast car is immature? B****cks to that!

Someone suggested that fast cars are toys and that we should have put away childish things by the time we reach a certain age & suggested that it was immature to drive a fast car. I am 35 by the way & found this a little offensive!

What are your views on this opinion?

Personally, I think that you only get one shot at life and so you should do what ever makes you happy.:) so long as it doesn't affect other people's welfare such as the wife, kids etc. You've got to be true to yourself regardless of how you may be judged.

And the person who tabled this view drives what?

What a load of old crap, I'd like to hear them say that to John Surtees!

Oh, btw, I'm 35 too and am already thinking about buying an even quicker car that my TVR! :D

Tim

well I'm 23, and hopefully by the time i'm 35 I'll be driving something even faster....

f*ck 'em I say!!

Rich

Loads of people said that to me when I bought mine. 90% of them have since been converted when I took them out in it!

Mostly a case of sour grapes methinks...

Well Mac's still driving one and look how old he is (very) , so it can't be true  :D :p

Personally, I find it VERY BIG and VERY CLEVER :D:D:D

Ask them what they drive, I bet it's not some cheap functional car, so there argument about being childish goes straight out of the window.

Or you could always thumb your nose at them

This person drives a year old astra 1.6  . I'm gonna start calling him Captain sensible from now on! Funnily enough, his name is Norm

I think the above mentioned view point probably is down to sour grapes TBH. This person has never done anything spontaneous in his life, whereas I am spontaneous. I think that's where the jealousy comes in to play!

it's not WHAT you do..........it's the way that you do it ;)

if u drive a fast car dangerously and think u r God because of it...then u r immature.

acceleration is fun, the feel of a fast car is nice, it looks good, can help you get out of trouble, pleasing to look after etc. etc.....all honourable reasons for owning/driving one :)

Just ask them to choose...

LMAO

How old are you Bagins? 18? If you are, then I am about half way between the 2 of you and I don't class myself as even close to being old.

It's got nothing to do with age if you ask me. You either like speed or you don't. However, I have converted a few people is the past and now, although they still don't have a fast car, don't mind the fact and can understand why people would like to pull 2 G's going from 0 to 80mph. OK, an exageration but you get what I mean.

So Macca you old git, sell up and get yourself a Mondeo. LMAO :D

LOL.... 30 mate and I'm pretty sure a blue Astra 1.6 would suit Iain a lot more than a mondeo as I'm pretty sure all that speed his car is gonna be carrying will up-set his pacemaker. Anyway have you ever tried to fit a Zimmer frame in a Zed ???? I think not :p

"Got any I.D. mate?" ;)

Arrhh thanks pete that's really nice of you mate  :hyper:

Hmmm, I can see Macca getting excited about this when he gets back from his afternoon playing dommies at the Darby & Joan club ! LOL

One important factor is that it's taken me this long to be able to afford the insurance on a proper (fast) car!

Couldn't have run a zed on what I earned when I was a student!

Do whatever makes you happy. :D

In that case Jimbo, you wouldn't get to drive your zed as you'd be locked up :D

Oh yeah? - then what's this?

A funny looking dog. :D

Well I don't think it's childish nor immature to love cars and speed. I've always loved cars from childhood and now as a mature git of 50 (yeah) I still love cars and the faster the better.

But I'll tell you one thing it's easier when your older to have something like a zx as you don't need to ferry the kids around.

Geoff.

Just as easy in your 30's if the Z is a "funday" car as oposed to the daily driver (2.3 Galaxy - no slouch I can assure you)

Cruising rapidly towards the "THE BIG SIX O"just fitted Nos,555's being fitted soon as they arrive at GPS+uprated intercoolers and maped chip.I am I too old ?Hell no,Luv it.........Vinz P.S. you can't go fast in a Hearse,so do it now, life aint a rehearsel.
