Location is Thor Racing in Coventry - nice and central! :) Map here

Price is £50 all inclusive per car if we get up to 15 cars.

Between 15 - 20 cars, the price drops to £45 per car.

More than 20 is apparently not feasible due to time restraints and people wanting to go home.

Please put your name on this list if you're interested.

Good news to hear you're becoming a trader.

It'll be good to have a professional, properly equipped outfit with a good knowledge of the Z.

Maybe you'll do a club discount for that mapping work we talked about :p

Pete,

That's excellent news. Just what we need.

We've got traders that can source us the parts, and most of us can fit them ourselves, but what we are limited on is the knowledge to set them up correctly, would be great to have you onboard.

I'll sort something out with AJay about discounts and trader status etc.

I'm sure we can sort something out.

Cheers

Pete

Nice one pete, i will certainly be bringing my zed down when ive finished for you to map it up and get it running right

Cheers

Mike

That's great news as I was thinking of coming to you to get my S-AFC2 set up (just finishing the install now...)

Cheers,

James

Me too!!

Would be nice to get it sorted and make sure all is running as it should be! (I like to think it is at the moment but you never know!)

;)

Matty.

Out of interest who went to both the SE and Thor RR days?

Were your mods different between the two days?

How did your BHP figures compare?

Was just thinking the same Mark, got to remember that the Thor RR will give bigger BHP because the rear wheels are taken off.

Yes, the weight of the wheels and thus the torque required to spin them will reduce the actual at the "road interface" figure. I do not have a formula for this. Maybe a budding scientist will work this out.

BUT the "road interface" figure is very dependant on tyre pressures, the amount of strapping down the car gets i.e. the force on the tire pushing down) and thus the grip on the rollers.

So although the figures are slightly higher I believe them to be more REPEATABLE, time and time again! (although I will also say more accurate due to the 0% loss of traction, as there is nothing to slip. However I'm not stupid enough to argue this point with the hundreds of traditional rollers around.)

The differences on the graphs are always due to something, like temperature, fuel or ignition. Never wheel slip.

Anyway I hope when some of you come back I can demonstrate a real increase in power, before and after plots.

Pete

Hi Pete when my car is ready from the full engine rebuild it is having, I will give you a call and see what she reads,I have been guaranteed 550bhp If I use their turbos, but I am not I will be using Greddy turbos that are capable of running 600+so should be interesting;)

Hi Mark,

my cars not the most consistant at the moment but my dyno results were as follows

SE 14/1 RWHP 325-335 fly HP 401-421

THOR 24/1 RWHP 361

Hope this helps

Hi Pete, excellent day, very pleased to of found out i have probs that could lead to major grief if not sorted, did not expect it to det at 10.5 let alone 14.5psi  ,talked to gent in office and provisionaly booked for end of feb, will ring you next week. One thing concerning the graphs, can you tell how quick the spool up is,and condition of the turbos..Tony :)

Hi Pete,

Great news regarding becoming a trader. As SMW said its what we need.

I will give you a call soon regarding my Zed, I really need to get the fuelling sorted and set up.

Ta

Rich :)

talked to gent in office and provisionaly booked for end of feb

Yep. That was muy Dad :) Helped out for the day doing admin.

I've seen the booking.

can you tell how quick the spool up is

Yes pretty much.

The car is settled down at 2000rpm before the runs starts and at part throttle. Once the power run begins I increase the throttle quickly. The rate of increase in the boost pressure graph shows the rate of spool up.

Now the run was set for 12s, from 2000rpm to 6500rpm (No point going into the redline as you're past peak power and torque) So you can estimate the time of spool up from that.

It's a little tricky as you try to set up each make of car to perform a power run over as short a space of time as possible (to reduce excessive stress) but it cannot be too quick as the engine must be allowed to generate it's maximum torque at each RPM. Between 12-15s is normally O.K. I'd say put a 700ft/lb torque drag car on for 8s.

I would also recommend you all fit an exhaust downpipe boss. So that the wideband O2 sensor can be mounted about 1m from the exhaust manifold in the downpipe. It means we get a faster response to the O2 changes and hence more time to get off the throttle before things go pop.

There is a bolt that fits into it to act as a bung.

These are £15+VAT, machined stainless steel.
