Anyone care to go head to head with an Evo VIII ?

Just read the report on the new Evo VIII.

0-60 in 4 secs? My Zed will not do that but I wonder whether even the most awesome beasties on the forum would. Bet Maccas' wouldn`t (especially not right now) or anyone elses.

What do you reckon is the best 0-60 a Zed could come up with? I wouldn`t have thought that with a road setup a Zed could do better than 4 secs. All that power and those poor rear tyres. Whaddya reckon, should we proud Zedders concede defeat to a poxy 2ltr turbocharged rally derivative?

Ok I would say this....................................

NO WAY will a Z do under 4 seconds no matter how much you tune the engine.

IMHO It is too heavy to reach times like that+ there is NO substitute for 4X4 traction:(

However get the overweight beast rolling and it's goodbye Evo!

I have KILLED an Evo 6 and 7 big time:D

I say your best course of action is if a evo pulls up next 2 u at the traffic lights - the best thing to do is to blow out his tyres and nail it and hopefully he wont catch you.

Though 0-60 4 secs that must have some serious g-force.

Shit wouldint wanna try race him in my standard boost zed.

Yeah an EVO will kill a Z from a standing start, but from 80+ a zed will pull away- the EVO's run out of puff.

I suppose its a combination of the gearing and aerodynamics.

Guess it all depends on what you want.....

an Evo will not be able to overtake an even slightly modded Z on the 0-60 run and after that its a questio of waving bye bye

Think about the number of times folk try to get clever with a Zed at the lights Vs the number of times it happens when you are already moving.........I have never been challenged from the lights by anything but on the move, all sorts try their hand.

Dunno about 7's, but assuming it's ready (and WHY WOULDN'T IT BE?!!! - Bob, are you reading this?!) I'll be at Donington in a week and a half at a Lancer register day with a bunch of earlier Evo's ;) Who cares about 0-60 times? Lets see how they compare on track! :)

Now, sounding like I'm saying I'm gonna wipe the floor with them, I /must/ say I'm a *complete* track novice... but I think they're gonna be surprised by some of the 200-ish bhp M3's that're going.

Hate to be the on eto tell you this, but they are even better round the track mate. 4WD and sticky as fook round corners.

Hate to be the one to disagree with you ;) but the last Lancer register day I was at (Snetterton) they weren't sticking to the corners... unless you're talking about the gravel bit off the edge of the corners. OK, so it was wet, but I think the guys driving thought they'd handle the nuts whatever the weather.

The M3 guys don't give a f*ck what everyone else has got - they'll still have a go at chasing them down. It's gonna be an interesting day.

Now stop detracting from my point about *MY CAR BEING READY IN TIME!!!* and get on with some work! ;)
