Had the alignment done...

Just thought I'd share this with you all..

Just had the alignment done.. Everything was waaayyy outta spec.. Had the tracking done front and rear.. But the camber on the left side is way out of spec, and he couldn't adjust the rear, so that side is at something like -2.5' camber.. Bummer..

Oh and 4 tyres & alignment cost £588... (still feeling lightheaded!)

Oh and the Aircon has stopped blowing cold, and the cruise control doesn't work...

Lemon? I think so...

Not wishing to concern you overly, but if the tyres were wearing evenly then why was all the tracking way out? Not saying this couldn't happen, just unlikely. Did they use the pukka laser alignment gear and did they know how to use it ?

To get the tracking really right it is usually best to let the tyres settle on the rim for a couple of hundred miles.

Try checking fuses for the Cruise ...

Have you got yourself a workshop manual yet ?

Yeah - it was the laser alignment gear.. Of course whether they knew how to use it or not is another matter... I think so but, you never can tell.. The front tyres had definitely been on there a very long time, so perhaps it's only been out recently..

I might get the tracking done again later - only not there, the car grounds going onto the ramps..

Haven't checked any fuses yet.. I do have a workshop manual though (on CD)..

I was wondering if the cruise might be caused by the speed sensor error that the auto box shows - but then the ECU lists no faults, so perhaps not..

The cuise only works within a certain speed range. If your car is an import and has had the speedo conversion done, then sometimes that will affect the range within which the cruise will operate. Not sure what the official parameters are though because mine has been converted and the cruise doesn't work below about 40-ish and I don't know the high end limit as I don't use many motorways (without speed limits).

Ahh hmm.. Perhaps that's the problem .. I tried it in town last time, perhaps (if I can find a clear bit of motorway!) I'll try it on the M-way at 60ish and see what happens..

BTW - anyone know if the Z will go up on standard ramps, or if it just hits the ramps?

I can get the back up on standard ramps, but not the front - too much overhang.

Hmm... the back might do me.. Just need to get to the gearbox for that revolution sensor.. Or I could just put it up on axle stands (assuming I can find somewhere to put them)..

This sorted me out.

Cruise is eliminated by any response on the pedals.

Mine works from 30 to 90, get up to speed above 30ish, engage cruise mode - put your toe under each pedal starting with the clutch! then press set. The micro switches that sence responce change only have to be (lazy) by a fraction to mimick pedal pressure. (as in your doing 'somthing' to corrupt cruise mode)

If it is simply adjust the microswitch job done ;-)

& its free ;-))))

According to the manual the rear upper links have adjustment on the inboard bush to cancel out at least some neg camber due to slight sag of springs and bushes. They have what looks like an eccentric washer that pushes the link outboard or inboard depending on how many graduations you turn it. Seems like you undo the nut then turn the bolt and washer then retighten when its right.
