Hi Guys,

I did an ECU check as the car seems to be running a little on the lumpy side. I think this may be due to a lazy O2 sensor which I will change today, but I got error code 54 at 0 starts ago ???

 

54 Signal circuit from A/T control unit to ECU (A/T only)

The A/T communication line is open or shorted

 

A/T refers to Automatic Transmition right ?.

I have a manual ? WTF ? :confused:

could it be your chip? maybe the pot has a crack in it..........

That is a common incorrect fault code we see a lot as we use the ConZult on a daily basis and always check memory faults.

 

It is odd as not all manuals do it, but ALL converted auto`s to manual do unless the auto box ecu is linked out at the power / signal pins.

 

May be a spurious signal that is inherent in all manuals and some are more likely to do it than others, seems most likely they car wants an auto box fitting as the manual is too slow... :D

Stu - if you remember it gave that code on mine when my O2 sensors were shaggeed and we couldn't understand why...

Hmmm, I remeber now. We thought it was Ambient Temp if I remeber rightly.

 

Well I've changed both O2 sensors this afternoon and so I'll do a diag again mid week, lets see if she still throws up the old 54.
