just saw this aritcle - anyone know the specs? like any chance of it being 100 ron?

the petrol wars are hotting up - but this time it's about performance, not price. BP has launched a range of diesel and unleaded fuels, called Ultimate.

The company claims both will offer drivers significantly better engine performance and less pollution. Retail director Graham Simms told us: "If you use BP Ultimate it can be like driving a car with a bigger engine or a newer model. And if you drive a diesel, the reduction in noise can be like the difference between a van and a luxury saloon."

Sharp-eyed motorists may have noticed the firm's filling stations recently had mysterious question marks on their forecourt totem poles. From this week, those have been replaced with the price of Ultimate. As Auto Express went to press that had yet to be announced, but is expected to be in line with Optimax, the performance fuel from Shell.

Ultimate has gone on sale at 400 outlets, and will be available nationwide by January.

Regards,

Alex

I noticed on the Petrol searching site given, that the local BP station is selling Super at the same price as Optimax. Every where else I look, Super is about 5p a litre more than Optimax.

Hmmm - we gonna try this new potion when it comes out?

I will :D

Just checked this post, and accoding to BP Australia, its 98 RON.

Seems to have been available there for a while.

HTH.

UK is only going to be 97 ron, it's just re-badged super unleaded as far as I can see, I'll be sticking with Optimax thankyou!!

BP ultimate is already out, a few people on Scoobynet have been getting detting on it though.

Noticed that the claims for these fuels are all fishy, feels better goes better etc etc but nobody has published clear objective proof with clear comparisons afaik

Here you are, try this...

BP Ultimate

Hmmm, some interesting info, but it's all Aus specific. It would not surprise me AT ALL if there are different formulations for different countries to meet local competion and local enviromental requirements.

I am contracted to do IT support for BP, so I'll try and ooze a bit of information from some of the people I talk to during the week.

See if we can get more info.
