Hi Guys I keep getting this message coming up telling me to go to http://www.DESTORYTHEFAT.com.

It's a pop up window that just comes up when it feels like it.

Any ideas how to get rid of this shit ?

Featured Replies

what type of pop up is it?

Is it a grey box with the OK button it is it a proper advert?

If it is a proper advert, install adaware and it will get rid of adverts from your registry.

go to download.com, get a copy of popupstopper from panicware, does exactly what it says on the tin. If you stick with the free version it does a few ****y things, but better that than those stupid messages, one of uncle bills gifts to the world

Stu,

I had run Adaware v 6.0 a few times but it doesn't detect this messeger pop up.

Jock,

Not sure I wanna install more spyware to get rid of pop up's but I'l give it a go if nothing else works.

Chris,

I have Zone alarm but it's on minimum setting I guess I'll up it for now

Rob,

What windows version is that mate I'm on XP ?

Turning Zone Alarm up will probably sort it but as Mr Beermonster says you can turn off the messenger service in XP/Win2K/NT

I can recommend the secure ie version of explorer.

Stops all intrusion and keeps your computer safer

and browsing is noticably faster.

btw WindowsXP has a built-in firewall, just needs enabling.

I assume that everyone has the AVG Anti-virus prog running?

p.s. another note on popups etc, if you download the Google toolbar for internetn explorer, it has a built-in popup blocker that seems to work pretty well too

It's worth running Adaware to see if you have any nasty Trojan stuff hanging about, if you have Zonealarm and have the security for your external link set to high, you shouldn't get a problem with pop-ups, if you do then either you have approved the messenger service to accept external connections or you have inadvertently added your external network as a trusted address range. Either way, it can't do any harm to reinstall Zonealarm.
