Couple of days ago Stu posted a thread about how happy he was with SE's service, now it's gone walk about, no trace and searching brings up diddly squat, what happened there then.

Anyone ??

Sounds fair to me.

After all, it gives the trader every opportunity to put forward their side of any story.

Edited post on your section of the forum,If a trader asks for a post to be edited or nuked should we? or just leave it for all to see?

Mods/admin,

I know this is probably a long shot but is there any chance I can have a quick read about what was said about my car. I'm not too bothered about the praiseing or slating of SE but sounds like I missed out on some real good technical info. I didn't get a chance to read the entire post before it got nuked :(

I think everyone's made their point. This thread dragging on and on is only going to bitter the situation between 51x even more isn't it?cap>

I think the problem is this site has swung from one extreme to the other in the past few months and some people are tired of it, if not most. Most of the people on here know the mods reasonably and would consider them a friend so why create the hostility? It really is becoming a 'them and us' situation now - this DESPERATELY needs to be lost!!!

Not a problem Stu - but since it's waaaay past my bedtime, can I do it over the next couple of days and e-mail you the results?

In the pms we have exchanged (smw1, 51x and others) the situation is far from bitter - at least between them and this forum. Both have had fair points to make and we - the mods - have followed their wishes on what happened to the earlier thread which smw1 started. Both smw1 and 51x gave very measured and reasonable answers when I asked them what they wanted. Thanks, guys.

Good point.

meanwhile poor ole 51x has to post an apology

Hey, hold up... I might be getting on a bit, but I'm not poor! :) Seriously tho Smithy, I like that you're crusading for freedom of speech (or something like that) but if it's for my benefit, it's unncessary. I didn't /have/ to post an apology - I wanted to! That's why I said noone was twisting my arm! In fact, I hadn't discussed it with anyone before I posted it. If you're thinking Macca had something to do with it, you're wrong - he was probably just as surprised as everyone. The apology I've made is being watered down by your suggestion that it didn't come from me willingly. That's hardly fair is it? You'll happily believe what I've said in a long rant that I posted because a positive comment made me snap, but when I try to say sorry for presenting my feelings inappropriately, you think there's something wierd going on. Really, it's nice to feel like I have some support (must also say thanks to the people that PM'd / emailed / phoned and txt'd - you know who you are) - I even had a comment that it'd be great if that trader really did mess up again in the near future - but /that's/ NOT what I want! I'm a big fan of theirs and have been for years - I (among others) recommended Stu go there to get his problems sorted! I hear they're trying to make everything better for customers but felt like this wasn't applying to me. With a bit of luck (planning / effort / whatever) there won't be any more forum members / customers getting p*ssed off like me and posting inappropriate comments. I'm also glad the trader didn't make a response in public. It would've been the worst thing they could've done.

I don't really get what everyone's debating in this thread. It seems like a number of things...

1. Should posts from anyone on the forum be censored?

Well, that's a bit of a tough one, and it's kinda what BigRoy's asking in Private / General. Personally, I'm glad there is some form of censorship because without it this place would be an anarcy - everyone slagging everyone else off and no control at all (worst case). That's not what this forum is about. I kinda hope people are above that here. I admit I did overstep the mark in my posts, not by simply critising a trader, but by blowing a fuse and doing it in a less than rational manner. I'm still unsure exactly what was deemed "inappropriate" - possibly me making certain assumptions about what had happened without really knowing the facts (or implying what I was being told was bullsh*t) - but hey, that doesn't matter. I shouldn't have gone off on one here. I should have sorted it out with them. The censorship (however stong or mild you might consider it) is there for everyones protection - no trader would want to be involved with the forum (/ club) if they're gonna be put in the line of fire of unhinged members that can say what they want, that everyone will read, and without being brought back in line. Similarly, if a trader constantly messes up, they will be brought back in line by the club.

2. Is the trader in question getting some kind of special treatment?

It might seem like it if you consider what's happened in the past. But it seems reasonable that with the change to club status and the appointment of Macca to mediate between members and traders, every trader (and member) should now get the same treatment. It's unfortunate I seem to have been first to test the new arrangement. I'm not normally like that, by the way. I'm quiet and reserved and take knocks over and over... but everyone has a limit.

3. Is anyone going to be allowed to criticise anyone without getting censored?

Of course they are! FFS, we're not under martial law here! I'm sure traders appreciate constructive critisism. But noone likes to read a rant about them, do they?! If I'd not lost my rag, sorted out my situation privately, then maybe posted some critisism publicly, I'm sure the comments would've been left up. Live and learn. That's what I personally recommend any one else do if they're feeling let down by a trader. Or talk to Macca - he makes a lot of sense. And he does it without using his fists.

I'm tired of all this now. Can everyone get back to talking about cars, women, beer and cars like BigRoy suggested?!

Why dont we do a points system like sxoc, maybe have another subheading on the traders forums, where traders get a +1 for a good job etc and a minus one for a not so good job?

Having said that, Ive just looked for it and cant find it so maybe they knocked that idea on the head:confused:

O.K heres another idea a sticky poll at the top of each traders area, asking how you rated the service eg.

1. 0% to 10%

2. 10% to 20%

3. 20% to 30%

through to.....

10. 90% to 99%

11. 100%

I dont know if its possible but you could make it a non postable poll to stop ant angry comments etc, so people can only vote but not post.

Then if someone starts saying things sabout traders they can be refered to the appropriate poll to vote on.

Just an idea but i might work!!!

Great minds think alike! - we looked at that but the s/w can't do it for now. We are looking at other ways but might have to start with a paper questionnaire (really up-to-date tech :D )

To try and avoid the legal problems, isn't it quite important to allow the traders a right of reply?

If a trader gets 5 lots of 0%, for example, and no-one knows who posted those and why, that's less fair to the trader in some ways than 5 rants posted in their section. At least if they know who complained and why, they can explain their side of the story.

Yep i agree too, HOWEVER this particular company are not trading here as of yet.

Mac, i maybe like a stuck record but that cos i believe in what's right, This company has had more slatings on Nissan forums in the UK than you've bounced people out of your club

What is right? how do you know that when you have only heard 1 side?

Smithy I don't give a dam about other forums,I dont read them because I have NO interest in them FACT!What I do give a dam about is the traders and the subscribed members on this forum.

Do you have any idea how many phone calls I make to traders to keep things sweet on here?

they are not subscribed on this forum, though supposed to be coming soon, but no not as yet,

Trust me they will be added to our trader forum when Ajay sorts out their invoice,They asked for it on Saturday when she picked her car up.

strange they have never done this before on this forum or other nissan forums that i am a member off (5 in total),

Hmmmm ever seen them do this on any of the 5 of your Nissan forums?

I am getting things right for guys on here that want to use SE,ask Vinz,CJ and SMW next week,Oh and for the record Simons car aka 51X will make the rolling road day.

coincidence they happen to be reading this thread on this night/day and to cap it all THEIR wish is granted,

So what you trying to say?

meanwhile poor ole 51x has to post an apology, fishy ? smells like a bleedin fish market in the summer :(

Wrong again,Simon was not asked by me or SE to post an apology, see his post on this thread!

If you can smell fish then buy a can of Glade adding 2+2 does not make 5;)
