Going to TRAX about 12 ish yesterday dinnertime, going down the A43 towards Silverstone, I pulled up behind a scooby. He obviously thought that the 300ZX isnt capable of much and started to accelerate!

 

Caught up with him very quickly and stayed behind his arse all the way up to 120mph and then we came to a left hand uphill bend. So, as you do, decided to floor it, 145mph round the outside of this scooby, out cornered him (not sure how) but totally kicked this scoobies ass!!!:D :D

 

Funniest part was that afterwards, bout 2ish, I was wondering around silverstone and the scooby owner went over to TONYC and had a chat with him about how he thought his scooby was quick, and how he just got his ass kicked to kingdom come!!!

 

Another win for the 300ZX's!!! WHOO HOO!!!

 

My heart was beating like mad, I wasnt sure whether it would stick to the bend.:D :D

i did very similar thing on way there also with a scooby. hope that wasnt the left hand bend that leads up to the face on speed cameras

Nah Lee, I used to drive those roads every day, I know exactly where the cameras are!

 

Felt really good though as the difference in power between these cars is unbelieveable, I diddnt beat him, I aniahalated him!!:D

A Golf GTi slowly moved past me from the lights - funny thing is he was booting his car, I wasn't even trying :D :D

its nice isnt it putting your foot down at 100mph and car still throws you back in your seat. also done a 7 series beemer on way back. i stayed with him till about 130 then decided to show him what the zed is made of. i didnt notice how fast i went after that as i was having a mad adrenalin rush. what a feeling.

Nice one "newbie" - I had a very similar encounter with an Evo VI yesterday. Had the same end result :D

This made my day:D so there we are me and me son chillin out at back of me Z on the chairs,all of a sudden ,a burly,50 ish in age gent,with his mate(or son cant remember)arrives in what seemend in panic:eek: says"HOW FAST ARE THESE"pointing to a red Z(300zx_Newbies)next to mine,so thinking he may of encounterd a Z i said"How fast do ya want to go"with a bit of a grin,the look from him was cracking,anyway he then told me about what happend( in the above post),he said he was realy going for it,and how much his scooby had been moded,etc,etc,he did say that when 300zx-newbie was on his tail at around 120 he was realy starting to put his foot down,then he could not believe it when he got took:D ,he had up till then not known about the Z32,and as Newbie went passed him turned to his passenger in disbelief and said What the fookin is that.We then continued with conversation for around 5 mins,when i told him that a Z has around 300bhp standard,and for a bit more cash thrown at it 400bhp no problem,should do 160 easy and 180+ if ya got the room(NO FOOKIN WAY,YOUR KIDDIN,NO WONDER IT FOOKED ME OFF,was reply)then after he had got more info on the Z he said thanks and went off,no doubt to tell his fellow Scooby friends just what an amazing car the Z is,and to scoure the Auto trader for one,and trade in the Scooby:D .He was infact a reall nice bloke and very interested in the Z,i think he likes em:cool:

I'm having a few problems at the momment regarding street prowess!! I had a calibra turbo b4 the Zed and raced alsorts (usually doing quite well). However since having the Zed there has only been one "challenge" by a celica 2.0gt and I watched him disappear in the rear-veiw like he was parked! Even last night on the way home, black supra comes past whilst I'm tootling along chatting with my passenger so being the eternal gentleman I let him go then floor it and loom up behind him in a millisecond. What does he do???? Backs off and starts driving like a pedestrian...

 

Oh well I guess I'm gonna have to sell the Zed and buy a nova GTE...;)

Had some discussion on the Scooby / Evo thing when we were following DaveW, when the fog of war descended as the Evo passed us...

 

They're rally cars, and so they are geared to go f***ing quick in and out of bends - even though all of these cars are in the 300+club, so to speak, the rally cars will generally have more torque at the wheels at a particular speed, therefore more acceleration.

 

OTOH they'll run out of revs more quickly than a GT like the Z, because when would a rally course ever have tarmac smooth enough to get over 120 or so?

 

An NA to TT conversion on a Z must be pretty evil, come to think of it... it's geared for the lower flywheel torque of an NA - hence higher final drive, but suddenly it's got all those extra foot-pounds arriving...

 

4.063 versus 3.69 - so almost 10% more RW torque - scary! The top end would be 10% lower but that's still 160+mph...
