Do you dislike anything about the 300ZX as in design etc. Reliability doesn't count ;)

I don't like:

- The tweed bits on the interior

- The dim headlights

- All the rubber seals on show when the t-bars are off

- The feebleness of the gumph behind the centre console

The stock front splitter annoys me cos I kick it all the time when messing in the engine bay but I wouldn't change it ;)

Pete ;)

Headlights go without saying.

Rust :( (Especially mine :()

Terrible sound system and terrible stock places for the speakers.

Foam rear spoiler.

The really tight shiny leather seats.

I had to think really hard about that and even then I wasn't that bothered by most problems, only the lights which I now think of a challenge to use them. ;)

What rubber seals on show? All I can think if are the window seals which can be seen anyway regardless of whether the T-Tops are on or off.

Yeah forgot about the spongy spoiler

I mean the black seals along the t-bar piece and around where the targas rest. They look messy when the t-bars aren't on IMO :)

14mpg:(

Huh?

All the orange bits ;)

Well they did bother me, but not anymore!!! :D :D :D

Although, having to cook your lights to clear them, Grrrrr

Hmm,

Headlights are number 1, definitely. I also think the trim build quality could be better - my doors make a noise like dropping a box of bolts on the floor whenever I close them.

Leaky targas.

And the indicator stalk is on the wrong side in comparison with almost all other cars. So when I drive someone else's motor, I'm either turning on the wipers or gesticulating like Larry Grayson.

A small price to pay though! :p

Nah, indicators are on the correct side - you can use them whilst changing gear etc. (unless you're a big girls blouse with an auto of course ! :D LOL)

headlights on Dip beam. Although its quite a buzz driving at 60Mph+ :D on back roads at night.... without being able to see the road past 5 feet infront on you.

I think it's amazing that all the research that went into making the 300zX didn't throw up the crap headlights   ?they also shudda put better brakes on and bonnet vents.

LMAO I know what you mean and it's even worse with a snap-off steering wheel that moves the stalk further away so you have to stretch your fingers to reach it! (Going to make a mod to sort that) :D

I hate the import seatbelts that are mounted on the door so you strangle yourself if you open it with the belt on!

...but as Stu pointed out recently it would be hard to get hijacked and dragged out of an import Z!

They probably spent a long time making the lights as good as they are!!

When they first designed it, it was probably as effective as lighting a candle and hanging it in the front bumper.

it probably took them 6 months to realise that and had to rush to put in the lights they did...

Also i never realised the seatbelts were in a different place on the UK car...

Must of only ever seen Imports!!

Seatbelts on the doors are an American thing I think. One of those daft safety measures to encourage you to belt up - i.e make it automatic so that you can't sue the manufacturer for your inane stupidity. Many of the US cars I've rented have seatbelts in that place.

Mines a Jap car... i guessed they used the same bits?

Where are the belts mounted on the UK car?

In the usual place for UK cars - the B pillar.

Although they appear to use the same length seatbelts - so I can only lean forward about 2" now, when I could lean much further forward in my J spec car..

(Yes, I am a fat b*stard)

Anyway things that annoy me;

Headlights (ok, so one of mine does appear to be pointing straight down! not so much as a beam pattern on the road..)

Short seatbelts

Cramped engine bay

IMHO the brakes are adequate for the market the car was designed for - a Grand Tourer, not a hammer-up-to-every-corner-at-max-velocity-then-stamp-the-brakes car.. But then, the brakes on my current Z are a million times better than my old one - so I think a lot of that depends on how shot your calipers are.

another thing i dont like is the Jap name... Fairlady... whats all that about!

Huh!?! Now I getting a tad confussed...mine's a 97 jap import and the belts are on the door pillars:confused: . Also the HICAS servo thing doesn't seem to be where it should be under the bonnet(all the others I've seen are above the drivers-side headlamp). Anyone have any ideas???

Japanese/US car - belts on the rear upright of the door itself, the bit that runs up the back of the window (so the belt goes with the door when you open it). If your seatbelts are fitted to the car body, then they're retro-fit ones.

Euro/UK car - seatbelts anchor to the B pillar behind the door (i.e. stay put when you open the door).

(edit) Either that, or the seatbelts moved in 1995 too.. But I wasn't aware of that one, if that's the case.

HICAS - NA = no HICAS. TT after 1995 (I think it was) = Electrically operated HICAS, so no actuator in the engine bay.

And Dan - the Fairlady name comes from musicals, apparently.. A lot of the names back then were stuff pertaining to musicals.. (Bluebird was one I guess, Figaro another)

That makes sense now you come to mention it but that's just plain GAY! LOL

On the import seatbelt thing... how many of you have had the slack belt problem and slammed the door on the buckle dangling down and taken chunks out of the door/sill !! FFS
