Compression test

I'll be getting a compression test done soon on the '92 TT I'm after: could anyone give me an idea of what sort of results are acceptable? Is anything less than a perfect result bad news, or is there some tolerance?

Oh, and is £50 +VAT a good quote for the job?

Thanks,

Raz

Raz,

With a cyclinder compression test, you should expext anywhere between 120psi and 150psi although there should not be a variance of more than 10psi between any cylinder.

Also get a leak down test carried out!

The price quoted doesn't seem too bad if it's carried out by a dealer.

Or you could buy a compression tester for about 25 quid from any Automotive store and DIY it. IT is pretty Simple and will save you a fair amount of cash in the long run plus learning how to do it will teach you a few other money saving chores to do on the Z, like Spark Plugs for instance.

Altho if you are worried dont do it and then blame me coz you dropped Tool X down into the cylinder of some Big Pimps Z that you were looking to buy.

I'll get me coat....

Z ya
