Had my car remapped on Wednesday & everything was fine, boosted well up to 1.3 bar, pulled fine with no flat spots right up to 7200rpm.

However yesterday it drove like a bag of $hite again with a horrendous flat spot after 6000 rpm in 2nd and detting at the top end of 3rd AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH:mad: :mad: :mad:

Does anyone have any suggestions? cos this is really pi$$ing me off now and I'm starting to consider just getting rid.......:eek: :eek: :eek: :(

Firstly, what chip upgrade are you using.

 

You shouldn't get any detonation with 555cc injectors and 1.3bar boost, unless your compression ratio is too high.

 

Check and reset ignition timing to 15deg /-2.

 

Flat spot at 6000rpm with detonation.....too lean

Too lean or too hot by the sounds of it, unless of you have a fueling supply problem (fuel pump on the way out).

Need a fuel pressure guage to check, worth the investment if you haven't already got one.

I was thinking about resetting the timing -I'll give it a go and see how it runs tonight....

I dont think its a fuel supply issue as I'm running an uprated fuel pump and a fuel pressure regulator

Why would the timing changed between last wednesday and yesterday? I presume it was tested and mapped on a rolling road?

Do you have a fuel pressure guage in the car?

Also as we all know, yesterday was the hottest day on record, EVER! This may have pushed your intake temps above detonation level for your setup.

 

I would check your base timing setting to make sure it is correct just in case but it really shouldn't have changed since last week unless the CAS is loose.

Timing is unlikely to have changed within a week but its surprising how errors can be made with the base timing setting depending on what angle you view the crank pulley alignmnent marks!

 

Also, base setting is 15deg with +/- 2 degrees and therefore if Adam has a setting of 17deg where his Z should be setup at 13deg then this is could be a contributing factor to his detonation.

 

My Z managed 1.5bar on the hottest day without detonation.....but admittedly the coolant temp hit it highest ever at 99deg........still within acceptable limits though ;)

 

Adam let us know if you've had any improvement.
