Performance mods and 'fast' driving style usually put greater stress on some stock components. They may be up to this, or they may not. So modding needs to be done intelligently. Some mods improve the efficiency of the engine (eg. an upgraded radiator), and therefore enhance reliability. A 300zx engine was built for lots more power than stock, but not all components are.
