Should a standard tt beat a caterham? Good fast road with some long bends.

What do you think?

I will post answer later.:p

Depends what engine is in the Caterham, if it's an R500/Superlite you'll get destroyed. I'd imagine above 120 the Cat will start slowing down. It'll have far superior handling to the Z so the only way you'll get past is on high speed straights.

We have a Superlite at work at the moment with a 300hp rally engine in it, 600hp/tonne - cost the owner over £140k  & 15k of that was on the private plate.

Sounds like he was done !

It's not that much car for £125K!

Yeah, the engine we built him cost £25k  The bloke must be loaded, not the car I'd buy with that much money but fair play to him.

Caterham has 2 advantages - much less weight and lower centre of gravity.

But 2 disadvantages - crap aerodynamics and poor gearing/power for high speeds.

He was quick around bends but sh1te on the straight, he ran out of huff at 110. And he called me a nob head for overtaking him. I think he gave up after that, cus i didn`t see him again.:( :D :D

Well you are!

Who do you think you are over taking him? Didnt you fear the wrath of the Caterham? ;)

Stuart

We did this a couple of years ago at Silverstone. A shedload of Z32s, a few Supras, a Lotus Carlton, a Chimaera and a 1600 Caterham all on the track together.

A few of the Supras were very quick and overtook Zs, others were overtaken by Zs.

The Carlton was mega quick (mainly down to the lunatic driver).

Neither the Chimaera nor the Caterham were overtaken by any of the Zs. The Caterham tracked behind the Chimaera for a few laps and then got fed up with the amount of rubber which was being deposited on it's windscreen and finally overtook.
