A 30" TV  - thats only 2 1/2 feet tall!! Nelson keep your sexswap dwarf fantasies to yourself and your pc ;)

Or are we talking length here...

:D:D

Yeah, nice big comfy arm chair, with extending foot rest.

36" widescreen directly facing you, aprox 6 - 8 feet in front of you. DONT put it in the corner, this way if it's all square then you can set all the speakers up properly, as surround sound doesnt work in corners, sounds crap.

Make sure the TV stand has enough room to place Video, DVD, SKY, sound processor and games consol :D ................Then you are sorted mate:p

Oh and dont froget to have a chair with the pint glass/can holder on the arm rest, lol:D

I've got the Sony 28" with all the above, and its set up very nicely :D , works a treat, best thing i ever sorted in this house!!!!

How big is "medium sized"?

If you can sit 10-12 feet away, I'd go for a rear projector. 42"+. I bought a 46" Toshiba, and it's great.

It does dominate the room a bit though! :D

I'm only about 6 foot from mine, and I still love my 40" RP telly :)

i recently got a sony 32" wega digital telly and a sony davs-550 home cinema kit from scottish power, i tried ordering off the net but just kept getting ****ed around, empiredirect .co.uk being the main culprits, in the end went to scottish power (not usually the cheapest) but after loads of haggling got a top deal. by the way the picture quality is brilliant from the tv and the home cinema kit dvd, sony stuff rocks in my opinion, you just cant go wrong with the stuff. Two rules i've got, when it comes to electronic stuff, sony is the man, when it comes to trainers.. nike are the bollocks, all my opinion of course.

Havennt found any other 'rules' yet. anyone else swear by a certain make/manufacturer for certain bits of kit?

Sounds cool  I've built a stand for all my hi-fi/video/synths etc., but a 36" TV sounds a good size for the room which is about 12 by 11 feet. I'm using my big Mission speakers with the telly and hi-fi etc. It's a cool setup IMHO because everything is integrated.

I've called the stand I've made my "Wicker Man" as it took a fair bit of construction and stands over 6 feet tall, 5 feel wide and 18"s deep. I live on my own, so what I want I get ;)

ONly problem is, I plan on using my hi-fi sytem and external surround sound components - so am I paying for things I won't use ??

Hi Nelson,

Yeah I have the 28'' version of this and it is the mutts nuts, you lucky bar steward:D

I got a 7 foot screen and lcd projector, works great and doesn't take up much room. Looks bl00dy brilliant, GT3 has never been so good, I love ebay!!

Have you thought about a projector / screen setup? especially as you are going to be using external sound.

If you do want crt screen then I got my Panasonic from PRC at http://www.prcdirect.co.uk good price and quick delivery.

Is the quality as good as CRT ?

Not as good for films as a CRT projector but it really isn't far off, had to go LCD because I use PS2 and PC on it for that its better. Is a very good LCD projector though (12k new), not sure what the cheaper ones are like these days. Only payed a grand on ebay for it which I thought was bloody good. Compared to a normal CRT TV though it is soooo much better, compared to rear projection TV's it eats em!!!

We quite often have games nights with GT3 or Collin McRae on it, so much fun.

Good luck in your home entertainment quest.

I have Plasma and now run 32" Widescreen CRT, 44inch rear projector and an Infocus DLP projector on a massive screen.

I will give you some guidance in a minute or two, I own all the major formats and can give you the good and bad points but it may take a while to compose the post so ill be right back.

I'm waiting with baited breath !:)

I think you should buy 2 tiny 3" portable tv's and tape one to each eye, creating the illusion of the biggest tele in the world as it will be everywhere you look.
