had a quick look but cant c any info about replaceing cats with test pipes as i have heard a higher amount of back pressure can blow up turbos?

Featured Replies

They wont blow up turbos. They MAY cause them to leak oil.

Stuart

still an engine out job though isnt it

If the turbos leak, after decatting, they where going to start leaking quite soon anyway.

I have heard stories about the turbos leaking weeks after decatting, but I dont know any one on this forum who had any problems. Every one I know I know are fine.

For the turbo replacement, some places take the engine out, some dont. Some people use it as an excuse to up rate their turbos :D

If you decat it will reduce the back preassue, allowing the turbo's to spool up quicker.

Some say that this also speeds up the rear turbo seal damage, maybe becuase the seals are less preasurised.

What do you want to know about decatting ?

this whole seal thing is a total load of KAK... its never been proven and is a bit of a myth i believe, the cats certainly contain alot of the smoke that would be there already, ie if your car starts smoking after decatting, then put cats back in and it would probably stop for a while, just delaying the problem that is there already, any 10 +year old car with turbos having had the shit driven out of them daily (dont believ it when people tell you the zed was driven by an old granny lol) will wear the blower out.

they only last around 100 000 to 115000 miles before needing servicing, (another great one is all imports have around 44k on them lmfao)

Decat it, you wont be disapointed... if it starts smoking get new turbos lol.

there is enough back pressure in your exhaust anyways.

just wanted 2 know wether it was worth doing. seems like it is:D

Hey all you lot with out cats what performance can you expect and can you notice!!!!
