People read my road kill about the Traction Control launch. :D

Anyways, the Traction Control rev limiter was set to about 5,500, but when I let the clutch out the revs didnt drop they just stayed there untill I got to the speed when 5,500 is normal and then increased.

Is that normal. Is that what was meant to happen? Did I just fry my clutch then too? :D

Stuart

Begining to save for clutch now :D

Does the same with mine mate (with launch). It kinda does it a little in 2nd as well. I'm not sure if that's good or bad either, but look at it this way...

1) if it's happening to both of us, then maybe it's normal.

or

2) we both need new clutches. :D

That sound slike clutch, My launch controll just bites and goes :D

I wouldn't call it exactly normal and if you keep doing it, you'll be needing one nice and soon! Really you should be able to be at any rpm and drop the clutch and have no slipping, it should just be the wheels that slip!

Make sure the clutch pedal is properly adjusted, might not be getting full pressure on the plate.

I am thinking my pedal needs adjusting as the clutch is only a few thousand miles old and is an RPS clutch.

Saying that it may be right. High revs drop the clutch it bites causing wheel spin at 5000rpm, the TC cuts in, grips high rpm causes wheel spin TC cuts in. So, I think therevs staying about the same level is right, in till it gets full traction. Other wise the revs would drop not good for acceleration or the wheels would spin even worse for acceleration.

Stu I've just had a thought. I'm using the exact same settings as you are.

I can rev to 6,000 rpm and drop the clutch without launch and the car just bites. But with launch it seems like it's slipping.

Once I get my TC working again (box is knackered) I'll try playing around with a few of the settings.

Yeah cos that usually happens to me. If I have the revs that high and then let the clutch go, the car bogs down and I lose all the power.

However the launch button does more than just create a rev limiter. It controlls the revs and it constently changes the slip value so its not at 0% or 5% all the time. I think it allows more slip at lower speeds and then decreases the allowed slip.

Listen to rally cars when they pull off. The Traction Control rev limiter cuts in and when they start pulling off, the revs dont change they remain at the same level untill they reach a certain speed. Keep in the revs high keeps your turbos turning, so instead of cutting the revs down to where I will gain traction it comprimises and cuts in to gain some grip but still maintain the high revs to keep the turbos going.

Have I just talked a load of rubbish ?

Errrr you're killing your clutch :D TBH the stock clutch on a zed will not take many launch's with the RL TC on launch control. The problem is you are slipping the clutch while the engine is on boost (this is basically all launch control is good for - because the throttle bodies are wide open you can actually generate positive boost on no load). Because you are slipping the clutch while in positive boost, there is more power there, so it just slips....

What a load of old bollox but I know what I mean :D

Sounds like you could also have damaged the flywheel - I wouldn't be too surprised if you have turned it blue, with the heat generated from the slipping clutch.

your clutch might be oil contaminated, an oil seal may have failed
