I know this has got to be a question that gets asked *all* the time, and you're probably bored to death but :-)

What are you guy's paying for insurance (if I may be so bold as to ask), and how old/yrs NCB etc are you?

I know I'm gonna be selling my kidneys to insure the car wink.gif (Already had one quote of around £1700 from a high street insurer..) but just wondering..

I'm betting most of you are considerably older than me though wink.gif Course I could be wrong!

A curious Az.

Az,

I have sold my kidneys, liver and spleen to pay for my insurance. Of course I have a disadvantage: I am 28 years old, hold a foreign license and have only just arrived in the UK. I am paying £1400, fully comp, legal protection, £250 excess. I did it through a broker and I believe my policy is with Privilege. I am 100% sure that if you are a UK license holder, with few or no points, several years of NCB that this will undoubtedly be halved. If you like I can get you intouch with my broker. E-mail or call me (07044016586).

Cheers!

Danny

Danny - that would be quite a reasonable quote for me I think wink.gif

For reference.. I just got a quote from Elephant (full quote), of £1541.40 fully comp on a standard H reg '90 car.. What puts my premium up is my age (22) and 2yrs NCB (damned company cars..).. It drops a little though because it's not my only car..

I do know mind you, that I got a quote of nearly £900 on my current car from Elephant, but my brokers quote was under £600 for the same cover..

Still a big chunk of wedge..

But you're only young once, as they say..

I really feel for you on this one aaronjb. I phoned nearly 50 insurance company's last year when I purchased my Z and the most ludicrous quote I got was 3.5k for fully Comp Cover ! ! ! The best quote (which I accepted) was for 1.4 big ones...which only covers me for Third Party Fire and Theft. I Only got that on condition that I installed a Thatchum Cat-1 alarm + imobiliser.

The stats: I'm 22 years of age, with only 1 year No-claims and drive an imported '90 (H) NA ZX.

Prices this year are rising by an average of 25%.

Good luck ! We're going to need it.

Jayen - my God, someone my age! :-)

I'm used to getting scr*wed over on insurance.. It's taken this long to get my insurance under a grand - although that's only because I went TPF&T on the Reno 19..

I was quoted £1100 FC - 94 L, PiperX filter, ECU, exhaust, TarOx brakes, and 17" alloys.. Mad huh!?

Still.. I'm still paying over a grand really.. £600 on the 19, and £650 on the Reno 5 GT Turbo that I also own...

Lets hope the 2 cars, 2yrs NCB works in my favour on this one!

Try Tesco, cheapest for me, and one of only about 3 that would insure under 25's.

Cost me £1100. 24 yr old, 4 yrs NCB on modded 16v 205, 1992 Jap SWB TT

Next best was Adrian Flux at £1500

I Pay £1000 with Tesco

Just got my renewal yesterday from A-Plan (0845 0711234)

Same as last year at £799.00, only pain is they want £98.00 extra to pay over 12 months.

£400.00 excess and must have a CAT1 alarm.

I'm 30, cover is Fully Comp, Business Use, Parked on Drive with 5 years no claims and the following list of which I'm very proud!

SP30 5 Points in March '97

SP30 28 Day Ban in November '97

SP30 5 Points in June '98

SP60 3 Points in November '00

Seems pretty good.

Most quotes were £2500.00 ish last year.

LOL

I'm still going to have a ring round though.

Agh.. Agh.. Yearning for Zed... ;-)

Ahh well.. Gotta fix the GT Turbo (driveshaft, turbo), sell the 19 16v (Anyone know anyone who wants one?.. Worth a try!), raise a few k's more, then find a decent Zed to buy!

It's nice to see that it *is* possible to get semi reasonable insurance quotes on these cars though..

Also nice to see that you're all friendly, and nobody has bitten my head off yet :-)

(Except when I was a smart arse about tire pressures.. Lol :-) )
