Leigh - You drive a Soarer, don't you? Would you rate them as much as this chap does?

He seems to think that his Soarer is better than any other car on the road and NO car, past or present, would be able to overtake him......

Great, I post a link to the world's most egotistical eejit and ScoobyNet closes down! :D

There's some bloody funny posts on that forum, great to see that Mycroft didn't just waste his religious fervour on us ! lol

Actually, I know someone with a Soarer and he LOVES it. Seems OK to me, just a bit lacking in style that's all. Not really a sports car, just a cheap Merc like all the other Lexi.

LEXI!

Now that's an interesting one, is Lexi the plural or is is Lexus'?

Tim :D

An importer friend of mine has a Twin Turbo Soarer, he loves it. It sums up my feeling of these cars when you see them at the auctions with lace covers on the headrests. They are a fast, comfortable cruiser with no style. Great cars for the money IMHO (if you smoke a pipe and wear slippers and have little people calling you Grandad). Wouldn't want one myself (Doesn't even come close the the Z) but they aren't bad.

Paul (has an opinion on everything, SPARKZ):D

there are quite a few engine variants so performance probably differs a lot. i think they go from a 2.5 v6 to a 4.0 or 4.5 v8. not sure if you can get a tt v8 but it would be a bit of fun if you could!

Ajay, i am one of Mycroft's biggest fans :D

They were available as:

2.5 Litre Twin Turbo (the same engine as the MK3 Supra 2.5)

3.0 Litre (same engine as the Lexus GS300 and Supra MKIV NA)

same engine as the LS400

4.0 Litre V8 (Coil Suspension)

4.0 Litre V8 (Air Suspension)

4.0 Litre V8 (Active Suspension

That sounds like a very interesting 'Q' car.

Any figures for the V8?

Tim

The v8 isnt that quick. The fastest one is the 2.5tt which has 280bhp 0-60 in under 6 seconds etc. IIRC the V8 has 250ish bhp.

TT Tim, if you want relaxed crusin' then the V8 is the right car. You can do a supercharger conversion but the engine is too heavy and big to allow the car to have a sporty handling.

If you want performance and tuning, go for the 2.5TT

I'll post figures in a little while.

A good site(not very big though), is

Hi Ajay,

Sorry for the late reply, just seen your post. Also it seems ScobyNet is backup. There's also a MYCROFT on the Skyline owners club, he's full of it on there too!!!

Right, now to put things in prospective:-

The Soarer is generally only available in Auto, however I have a manual one. Mine is lowered, runs on TRD Air shocks, a nice lower lip bodykit, tinted windows, and looks very mean. Standard they ride too high, and to soft. They are good cars, and very reliable, and pretty fast.

However I have now had, a 300ZX TT, Skyline GTR, and a RX7, all in manual. My favourites, are the 300ZX and the RX7.

The 300ZX is a real supercar, and has huge tunning potential. The RX7, is light, small, revs like nothing else I have driven, and changes direction with unbelieveable nimbleness.

The Skyline was too heavy, and needs a hell of a lot of money spent on it to get real speed, it also takes out the driver involvement, as you can rely on the 4x4, and computers to sort it out for you.

The Soarer is a good car, but most are not like mine, and 99.9% are auto, and therefore not real sports cars (in my opnion).

Leigh.

Guys I have a soarer V8 Active (UZZ32) and a friend of mine has a T.T soarer.

The Active is not a supercar. In a straight line it has difficulty seeing which way a manual 300 went!, but in a corner, due to it being the only production car to ever have Fully active suspension (damping/anti-roll/four wheel steering and TCS) it can simply do things the 300 can't, It's almost physics redefined!. It has conolly leather, wilton carpets, a nakamichi sound system with TV, GPS and reversing camera as standard, all operated through a touch screen (in a 1991 car!) automatic and electric everything, all round a beautiful, quiet, comfortable car, absolutely great for long journeys, and far superior to anything BMW or Merc had at the time. That said, despite the fact it can corner like you would not believe, the 300 is a far more satisfying car to drive, and so much more involving.

I respect the soarer immensley, but I LOVE the 300 :).

God I didn't half go on did I?

I did give the soarer some thought once or twice - but it does lack styling.

No long live the ZX - and I still have a number of mods I want to do.

Geoff.

It doesnt make any sense, why have motec "STANDALONE ENGINE MANAGEMENT" with wideband o2 sensor and then put all that apexi bollocks in it?!?! map the motec correct, i.e. let it do its job, instead of having shit install, then fudging it with apexi this and that?!?

suprised he doesnt have "BALL BEARING TURBOS"

hehe, before f&f it would have been a just a motec, or possibly a motec m48.

Other than that...very nicely done, too many shiny bits for my liking tho! ;)

Theres a lot of shit in that list thats pointless and not needed tho!

its all about the benjamins so they say, and he's thrown a lot of $$$ down the pan ;)

Hi Ian,

Yeah, but I still cant upload them onto this site. I have been waiting for Craig to come back to me. I need to pay up, but I would also like to advertise my business on here as well. So I was asking how much, so I can contribute to running of the forum.

Leigh

DaveW... I'm glad you found that particular car...HERE is a dyno run from it, producing well over 700hp..... I got to say it goes well.

Got a few mpegs of it street racing, have a look in the STREET RACING section.

Have fun people!!

Robert.

Ajay, I loved reading Mycroft - I'm a real fan!

Is he related to David Iyke I wonder?

I don't suppose many forum members are Vanquish owners, but I have been lucky enough to be taken for a tour of Ledbury's B road in one (at extremely high speed) as I have a very good friend down there who bought one last Summer.

He loves it and it is an awesome car. But heavier than the 300, so if you can get up to about 400BHP then your zed can keep up with it no problem.

The Vanquish sounds delicious though and it does look rather nice (even in Silver!)

Only problem is 3 point turning as the reverse gear button is on the middle of the dash!

Well HELLO ladies...

Pleased to see me I bet...

Soarer... best car in the World... you know it, it hurts, but you rub along... :D

been playing with the Scoobs... the moderating was a bit lacking in zest and fire... soon changed that... they are fully awake now...:D:D:D

I actually buggared off for a while because, well, you all seemed to 'get serious' with the new forum and I then don't know whether to post serious stuff (which I can do... honest) or keep going with the p!ss taking... so kept away...

I hope I find you all healthy and that nasty genital rubbing rash you all had a while back has gone away...

UPDATE

I am still the Soarers biggest fan, the MKIV site hate me, John 'Bonkers' Brannigan has totally lost the fvcking plot and is now my personal stalker... he even loses it on the GTR FFS!!! if he wasn't so daft I'd admire the dumbfvck! hahaha... :D I have another stalker too his name is pepper and he is made as fvck! In fact he is as mad as Bonkers... so I've had a great time winding these 2 nerks right up to the hilt... Bonkers will be over later calling me names... trust me hahaha :D...

Did any of you see the Supra vs 300ZX thread on the scoob?

I hope you think I played it with a 'straight bat' I still prefer the dynamics of the 300ZX any day to the Supra... 10× better...

Regards... That bloody Mycroft geezer!!

Interesting reading.

I have often wondered what the reputation of the 300ZX is like with other car owners. I hear mostly bashing of it, but there is no lack of open mouthed gawps from Corsa, and other, drivers, as well as them trying it on at the lights. Most probably just wanting to see it go.

Stuart

I agree Stuart, surely anyone who knows what they are talking about has bought a zed by now???

I saw you almost praising the Supra on that thread Iain, thought perhaps you'd gone a bit soft. :)
