hello all, im fairly new to all this 300zx talk, ive had my tt auto import for about 6 months now 60,000 klm on clock and amaculate in grey. ive had gtirs in the past then made the jump to 300's wow i love it and i can't really see me ever selling!

anyway enough of the life story, everythings been great until i started to notice a slight drop in revs about a month ago. since then ive had a s/s powerflow with japcans fitted, i fitted k+n panel filters, now it seems to be getting worse and when you sit at the back of the car the drivers side exhaust seems to be (farting) and the passenger side is real deep and smooth, ive cleaned the throttle bodies (black) and re-adjusted idle after 300 miles, all my conectors are like new, but the car is still on same original plugs?, ive reset ecu, and checked for fault codes? ive checked everything on the site!!! ive checked the coil packs electrical conectors and pulled them of one by one, the car seemed to misfire differently than does when ive explained.

ive been running it on 98 unleaded tryed it on shell optimax seemed to make problem worse, still does it with air con on?

i appologise for the bible length description,

THANK YOU ALL FOR ANY HELP..........JIM

Hi, seeing as no one else has replied yet, but i am sure they will, you could try swapping the plus ove, all from the left to the right etc. If its the plugs the missfire will move too.

Not much help but its cheap.

So the car is misfiring when idle, but is ok when you go above say 2k revs ?.

Is the problem more noticable from cold ?.

I have a similar problme with mine at the momnent. At firs tI thought it was a fauly injector, then maybe a zorst valve burnt, but it could be a number of things.

If the problem is not present when the car is cold then it maybe something very simple like an O2 sensor.

If the problem is worth when cold, then welcome to my world. I'm getting the top noitch mecanics to check it out on Tuesday so I'll let you know what they find. Int he meantime if you can check the O2 sensors via aconZult that would elimitante a few more causes.

thanks for the reply bud, mine does it hot or cold! it stalled last night while coasting round a corner!!! woooh no brakes...first time its done that, must be getting worse. ill try the 02 sensor test then let you know.

jim.

Did the car stall while slowing down for a corner?

That is commonly caused by the throttle position sensor. Give it a good clean with WD40

no it just conked out while coasting, ive cleaned the tps, thumbs up mate! ive just done a ecu check and it comes up code 55.

the strange thing is the car drives great, smooth and powerful.

could the strange right exhaust nosie come from a difference in bends in the pipe?

on a different note, is there anyone who lives near me, there seems to be a lack of zeds in hull or around?

Ive only had my z less than a mnth so not experienced, but it was misfiring slightly on the nearside and occasional black smoke out the n/s exhaust. I took it to Protech near Bristol who done engine diagnostics and said injectors were dirty, engine temperature sensor was coroded, but mainly the n/s lambda sensor was faulty. making it run rich on that side. So after a bill for £540 it now runs perfectly.

Whats a lambda sensor?

What did they actually do? Didnt you try a injector cleaner?

The water temp is a common problem. Its been sat in water for about 10 years.
