***hicas***

Hi guys and Gals,

Erm..I've had a gander at the archived threads on HICAS problems but I can't find any that relate to HICAS leaks. I've had to top the fluid up every couple of weeks recently and I've come to the conclusion that I can't ignore it anymore!!

Are there any particular parts that commonly perish/break that could release the steering fluid??

Cheers peeps:confused:

This was mentioned the other day - the leak in that case was a loose banjo nut that needed tightening up - check the pipes for any wetness

power steering and hicas fluid use same resovoir ... bets its the high pressure line for u r power steering !!!!!

get 1 made £30 ... goto nissan £130ish

lie underneath the car ....

get somebody to put the steering on full lock .... u will see the leek then !

obviosly jack the car up and take splash panels of :) sometimes u gotta tell people even the simple stuff ... oh and the car has to be running :)

Yeah thanks for that. I reckon you're right coz when I left it for a while without topping it up (I know I'm a muppet!) I could hear just a slight resistance when I turned the wheel, then I topped it up and it automatically stopped!

If it does turn out to be the high pressure line do any of you know where I can get one made?

Yep, that was me. I was really worried it was going to cost me BIG TIME. Got the car up on the lift, squirted a load of de-greaser around, let it evaporate, started the car and waited. Sure enough there was a drip every 4-5 seconds. Traced it to a banjo bolt connector by the alternator. 9 skinned knuckles and a 1/4 turn later the problem was fixed:) :)

Sweeeeeeeet!! I'll give it a whirl tonight and hopefully I can fix it without having to re-mortgage the house LOL.;)
