Yeah the title may be a little misleading, bought my import Z and and probably going to suffer to burden of getting bits. But what I really don't understand it is some of the tricked out bits you get with these cars, folding in wing mirrors have a purpose but whats with the seat belts? I've got a targa top and the first time I drove it with the top down I felt unsafe!! I frikkin thing was flapping in the wind! As soon as I push the button on the anchor it flys back like a good un! Whats with that?

I'm just gripping coz there's an expensive storm a brewing and it's called Z

Regards

Rod

PS Anyone know of some decend exhausts for a good price. Mine blows like Divine Brown on Hugh Grant. Sounds good at the mo, but it never lasts, coz the cops 'll get ya!!!

I think I deserve a round of applause for that analogy:-)

PPS HEEEEED the warnings of people on this forum. I bought at my peril and now I have a car that brings a smile to my face and a hole to my pocket....ho hum

Hi Mate,

What's wrong with the seat belts ?. Do you mean why are they mounted on the door or something else ?.

I personally prefer them on the door as it's an excuse at petrol station. You fill up and then open the passenger door to see if your missus wants anything, then as she's being choked by the seat belt you say "oh sorry luv I forgot".

What's flapping in the wind ?. You talking about the seat belt again ?.

The button on the anchor ?. You talking abou that strip on the targe mounts that stops wind getting in the car (well, it stops a bit I suppose).

Stuart

I think you mean the way the belt slackens off when you are wearing it.

Someone told me it is a comfort feature and tightens up in an accident but sometimes you end up with LOADS of belt to spare.

Not sure myself.

vinz,

Yeah would like to have a look at that my e-mail is makin_rod@hotmail.com (I'm on MSN with that too). I used to work in Macc so would it better to go direct or would that be rude?

Cheers

Rod

Yeah the seat belts get annoying after a while. If you pull it out a bit and let go it will click and wind back up. Is there a fuse you can pull out to kill this 'feature'?

Yeah - I was a little drunk when I wrote loads of posts over the weekend, I was talking about the fact that the seatbelt slackens off slightly when you drive. Weird, but cool:)

LOL swm1 - I'm sure the missus likes the car after the strangulation

I got my exhaust from JP too and it sounds awesome.

Nice deep burble at tickover rising to a screaming wail.

Put your foot down on the motorway and you can hear it 5 car lengths back :)

Ask Macca what he thought to it when he followed me home! LOL

I'm confused by the seat belt story (?)

My Z is a 91 import with door mounted belts that DON't wind back onto the reels after I stop the car. Result is that the belt gets caught in the door when I try to shut it and there is no technique to throw the clasp in as you shut the door.

I haven't found a button to sort this.

There should be a button for everything !

im on me third seat belt now. belive me it gets a lot worse if it is sticking now wait till you cannot do anything with it. fully out no retraction at all. the plastic in the seat belt inertia breaks up, not allowing for it to retract. somtimes you can get away with it sometimes you cannot. my first lasted 12 months the second only 3 after it started sticking.

will be a MOT failure if it is checked.

"T"........

i have a 95 tt zx and when i turn the ignition off the seat belts retract even more lol

are they sposed to ?

So is this retracting feature only on newer Z's. I have a 1991 Jap import. 3 months after getting it the seat belt went completely. Got a second hand one and sometimes you have to give it a bit of a tug to get it to tighen but I'm sure when I fitted it, there were some wires which connected to something in the door. Passenger side is fine. When you take the belt off it winds back up no probs but the driver side just seems to hang there waiting for help. Nissan want about £120 for a new one.

no it is only on jap imports that i am aware of, mine also is a 1991. i stand to be corrected though. wires are activated by the red seatbelt fastener and the ignition.
