Does any one remember this?

For some reason I remember what he was, the head on the TV screen with the colours behind him that used to stutter, but I dont know what it was all about.

So

What was it all about? I remember that he was meant to be a computer but nothing else. I think I am too young to remember it.

Came some one clear it up for me. Was it any good? I dont think it lasted very long but it made an impact that I could remember it from being 5 or 6.

Max Headroom

A digital representation of Edison Carter created by Network 23's teenage genius Bryce Lynch. Originally, Bryce downloaded Carter's memories so Network 23's CEO Grossberg can see what going on in Carter's mind. But the digital representation takes on its own personality, becoming Max Headroom, and begins living in the network's computer. Out of Network 23's reach, Max has free reign over Network 23's computers and makes random appearances on TV whenever he pleases.

I think you'll find that they were going to kill Carter as he had stumbled upon the 'blipvert' problem.....the problem that caused the particularly slothful, and some old people, to 'explode'.

I've still got the wonderfully imaginative pilot show on video....Amanda Pays.......ahhhh, such sweet memories.

The biggest laugh was the fact that the entire pilot was reshot for the American market - using almost the same entire cast but a weaker story line. What is it with those guys?

Was it actually made for UK TV then.

Cos looking bio of the program so to speak it started on channel 4 for a while before making a TV series of it.

Im trying to down load an episode of it from Kazaa but its gonna take a while.

Didn't he get decapitated in a car accident after driving in to one of his own bill boards?

No from what I have read he was a news reporter who was killed by hitting his head on a Max Head Room sign. They digitised his brain to put it into the computer and the last thing he remember seeing where the words Max Headroom on the sign, and he desided to call himself that.

Stuart

No - he wasn't killed - but yes, he hit the barrier at a car park - bearing the legend 'Max Headroom - 4'3", or somethimg similar.

When they digitised his brain, naturally the words 'Max Headroom' were at the forefront.

Yes, the programme was originally for British TV. There was a 'one off' pilot film that led to the creation of the digitised 'Max Headroom'....it ( the character) was rescued from oblivion (and the bin) by a dodgey Pirate TV station that stuck him on the screens because they didn't have anything else...and 'he was free'. What do you know - instant stardom!
