Hi guys,

I'm back, but this time with a Z. It's a black, uk spec TT.

As some of you know I was previously a MK4 Supra TT owner (hence my name) so the obvious thing to do when first driving my new Z was to compare them. This I couldn't do as I really love both cars and respect each of them individually for what they are.

Anyway, I hope to keep this for some time and I'm sure I'll be giving it a few tweaks here and there ;)

First thing I need to do is sort out the stock stereo system. Basically, the CD player doesn't like most CDs and rejects them. The radio won't 'auto' tune radio stations (this could have something to with the aerial not fully extending). Also, the speakers don't like too much bass, so I fell I may have to replace these soon. If anyone can help me in this area then please do!

Cheers,

Peter

Welcome to the House Of Z! ;)

I thought you had a Supra and was a little confuesd with the name. :D

What made you change your car? Fancied a change?

Stuart

He's seen the light........ at last!!

We're all allowed to make one mistake in life. :D :D

Hi Stuart,

I sold my Supra about a year ago as I moved into a new house, and needed the cash, etc. From then, I had a Mondeo ST24. Oof. I just couldn't live without the power. I really missed it. I had the Supra running 1.3 bar and about 400BHP. I always loved the Z and someone was luckily selling one at work. It's stock (ish) at the moment and should do me fine for now. I need to get used to the power thing again. Haha.

I miss the dump valve malarky so might invest in one of them after I sort the stereo out :)

Hopefully, I'll get to meet a few more of you at some meets this year.

Regards,

Peter

You wont need 1.3 bar to be running 400bhp on a Z.

1 bar you should be 450.

Stuart

Nice one Peter;)

Have you heard from Nico, since he went out in search of religion:D?

Hi Mac,

Haha. Yeah, I rang him last week to ask him if he thought I should buy the car and also this morning to let him know I'd bought it. It belonged to someone we worked with. I can't remember his handle on this forum though!!!

Peter

Errm i dont think so lol. mind you are you talking at the wheels? or flywheel (a pointless figure because its all specualtion)?

1.3 bar should yield around 360-380 on the wheels of a decently tuned zed.

I have the same problem.

The radio won't 'auto' tune radio stations (this could have something to with the aerial not fully extending).

Mine also does this but my arial goes all the way up. Maybe a stereo expert could explain why this is.

Also, the speakers don't like too much bass

I changed my rear speakers to some 5x7 JBL's a few weeks ago. When I had a look at the stock speakers, they were half torn from the edges.

Congrats with your buy Pete - I'm you won't regret it - but I would like to know what you think between the Soup and the Z. Overall that is!

Cheers

Wazza,

I think you will find that most people mean fly-wheel power when they talk about BHP. i.e. the bigger of the 2.

That why I was suprised no-one said anything about when the group Rolling Road was carried out, and the figures were shown for Rear wheel power, but when the 200's had a group rolling road, their figures were shown for the flywheel. To people who wouldn't know the difference would assume that the Z's and the 200's look like they had roughly the same amount of power,

lol - Can you imaging a Nova boy saying "I got 40BHP at the wheels"? I think he'd rather just say he's got 90BHP and keep it at that.

Certainly, although I'd better give it a few weeks of hard driving so it would be a fair comparison :) Whatch this space!

Peter

Nice to see you back Peter. With a Z aswell! ;)

Thankyou Timmy. They're a great car to drive. I wanted one as much as I wanted a Supra... :)
