I've just spoken to Luke at the Z Centre and providing we get a group of 10 or more he can sell us the Racelogic Traction Control with Launch Control for £530 inclusive. If you want it fitted then that's only an extra £100. It's even cheaper than Torqueic by £30, or £80 if you have it fitted!

I'll also post on Scoobynet and the 200SX forum to try and up the numbers.

Anyone interested ?

Does that include VAT in these prices,is that including slip controller, and how long after comitting to getting it fitted, very, very interested;)

Sorry about the delay getting back to you Tony but I've been out of the office today !

The prices do include VAT.

I'll have to ask about the slip controller (I don't know what that is I'm afraid  ) but unless that's an optional add on then I guess it does. The price certainly includes the adjustable unit with launch control though !

As for getting them fitted we can have them done as soon as 10 people commit. I've got two definites so far from my own mates (an MR2 turbo and a 200SX Touring) and I'm about to post the offer on Scoobynet and the 200SX club (SXOC).

They can be fitted to just about any car with ABS and electronic injection, I'm told, so it's worth asking around.

It would pay to phone Luke cause he'll keep the total numbers.

Cheers !

Konrad

Cheers Konrad, sorry bout mix up, ie slip control,i meant to say "adjustable slip"which is what you say it comes with,so no probs there then, cheers mate;)

Doh - that should have obvious !

Me showing my technical competence again there ! :D

I think it does come with adjustable slip yeah, the Tourque IC kit does.

Any idea how much extra for full throttle shift too?

someone posted today about the Torque IC GB on the 200sx board.

'fraid not !

I'll give Luke a call to find out though !

My bad !

The price with both the adjustable slip AND launch control options is £540, including VAT, not £530. Still £20 less than Torqueic though !

Fitting still £100 inluding VAT, for those that want it fitted.

The prices are dependant on getting 10 or more in the group buy though !

PS. he's looking into the cost of the Full Throttle Shift option.

Cheers !

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you mate !

The Full Throttle Shift option would cost £100, with another £100 to fit, if you require.

cheers !

konrad

I have this system installed and the launch control is on the adjustable slip, and I dont think you can have 1 with out the other.

I was told you can have the adjustable slip without the launch, but not the launch without the slip (does that make any sense ? :) ), but I'll certainly bow to experience as I've not even seen a RL unit yet.

Do you find the launch control to be worth using Stuart ?

Its just bloody fun. :D

As well as the 2nd rev limit which spools up your turbos, it allows variable slip according to your speed. Like cutting in when you are going 5-10 mph will cause a bigger slow down than higher speeds, so it allows slightly more slip before cutting in. Its very clever actually.

Its not 100% needed, but its just fun. The adjustable slip is not 100% needed either but it is handy. You can tell the difference from wet and dry setting.

When its dry and you have the TC set on dry it allows a little slip because apparently it causes better acceleration. Put it on on wet and you can tell you are not going faster and you can hear the TC more offten.

In the wet, my TC cuts in all the time, especailly when accelerating out of junctions or going over mini roundabouts. Put in on dry when its wet and the back end kicks out slightly before the TC does its stuff. So you can tell the difference with the adjustable slip and well worth the extra dosh.

Here is a vid clip using DIVX on my car launching.

http://www.nissanzx.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/TC.avi

You can hear the TC rev limiter and you can hear it popping as I pull off.

I actually left a skid mark and on examining it you can see the skid is dotted, where the traction control gained traction and then my car lose it again because of the power and the TC again gets the traction.

Its well worth the money, and the price is good too. Have you posted on the Supra forum? Also tell the people on the SX and Scoobynet that thier's should be cheaper as the 6cylinder TC is more expensive.

Good point ! :)

Yeah, I did advertise on the Supra forum, as well as Scoobynet and the SX, MR2 and Skyline owners' forum. I think we're up to the required ten now, with one or two waverers, but anyone else is more than welcome ! I'm chomping at the bit to get it fitted - just waiting for my manual conversion first !

Nice one - cheers Stuart

as you may know i had a bit of a dink in mine a few weeks back :o

just had the assessor in & it looks like its not a write off (thank god) but will know for sure tomorrow when he sends the confirmation.

so as long as the fekkers dont try to write it off im deffo in on this ;)

  • Author

Good news about the assessor Paul ! :)

It's been a rough couple of weeks for Zs going sideways when they shouldn't - probably just as well mine's off the road at the moment

konrad,

I'm in on this too. Spoke to Luke a couple of weeks back, think he was up to about 6 or 7 people around then.

Call me dim, but I am working on the assumption that as I have an auto then I dont need the launch control!!! Is this logic right?

Nick

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

That's right - saves you a tenner ! :D

Can't be bad !

But if you had an auto you wouldent need TC? the transmission loss does the job for you :D:D:D

If anyone wants this fitting let me know ;) Touting for business? me? :D:D:D I'll beat the £100 though ;)

Its actually pretty easy to fit, and even i could do it lol, takes a while though, and

you need patience, but not to difficult.

How much will it cost for a V8 unit??

One other point - I think RL TC would be pretty useless for the scooby boys - it needs a pair of undriven wheels for a refference. If you have any buyers on there I'd check it will actually do something...

  • Author

They could always put some jockey wheels on, couldn't they ? :)

There's been no interest from there anyway - sorta makes sense now :)

I am sure it will work with 4WD. I have seen it on 6R4s and Audi Quattros.
