In comparison to all the other metalwork you have got in front of you, then no it won't be! One well known

member has restored their aerial to its stock position:

Oops - I see Gary has already posted this link!

That build has just blown my mind. Such attention to detail, and assuming very very deep pockets.

Very handy thread for knowledge.

Next week I start on getting the garage ready then I will get things moving

They are! CP5555 calipers and 343mm two piece discs. I have them on my UK spec. When you are ready let me know

and I will help you get them refurbished.

What are the wheels on the soarer? I have some pretty identical, mine are fake 3 piece though.

Thanks, it's gonna be a slow one as I don't have deep pockets so will be doing as much as I can myself, luckily have close friends that are painters and mechanics although I don't like to freeload.

Have i bitten off more than I can chew? Probably.

But I'm sure I'll have fun over the next year or two.

And yes this is the friendliest forum I've been on with some very helpful members

Thanks. Mine must be replicas no where near as quality as those :)

Look at it as a long-term project as and when you can get bits done. Long as you've got the heart for it and determination to see it through you'll get there and it will be an achievement.

That is the plan, and I'm definitely not a quitter.

Just a shame I can't throw money at it

The engine is what's worrying me the most.

As has been said by others the cars been sat for 4 years or so with the plenum off, who knows what's seized.

Habit looked into it yet but a full 're build is possibly on the cards and that's a worry financially

Ah and while I'm at it. Scouring the internet for a set of good quality yet affordable axle stands with pads.

Not one for Halfords own brand stuff.

Any recommendations of where to look?

I've owned my blue Z since 2005, driven it for maybe 9 months in that time:whistling:. Collected parts over the years, parked it up with a hydro locked engine in '09, started back at it with a passion in 2015, will hopefully have it on the road this summer:thumbup:

It's not a race matey, it's a journey

Thanks Richie, I'm sure I'll be in touch when it comes to the engine!

I'm pretty sure mine is a colour called 'super white

Can't see any mettalic in it.

Does anyone know if this is a solid 2pac colour or is it a base coat with lacquer on top?

Jimmer at Powerzed is the man to talk engines with bud, he's just started into a full forged rebuild for me

Your VIN gives the paint code 326 "Arctic White" (the name used in the marketing brochure for

series II UK specs) and it is a solid colour.

Project 1547 - Out of the Blue

She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went - Simply irresistible.

Thanks for looking that up, I need to become better at searching these things I know.

The only reference I can find for paint is that Nissan arctic white is a pearl. However mine definitely doesn't seen to be

Thanks I've had a look at his website he seems to do some incredible work.

Do you mind if I ask a ballpark on the cost of your rebuild ?

To put things in perspective for me

Hi folks, I've been quietly lurking while gradually converting my garage in preparation for getting the car restoration started however I have now hit a snag that changes everything.

I've always wanted one of these and have been really looking forward to spending a year or two slowly restoring it ( im.not a rich man so would have to be a slow build as and when I could afford).

My wife lost her job a few months back due to the company she worked for shutting down, and has found another job after a long time if looking and going for interviews. The hours are long and she doesn't get to see the kids much, she hates the place and is so down all the time since she started there.

We've had a long chat and she's really missing out on the time she uses to have with our little ones when she worked part time, I hate to see her so unhappy so we have decided for the good of us and the kids she is going to go back to a part time job again. Without the extra money things are going to be very tight around here and I'm not going to have the money to work on this car, as much as it saddens me giving up on the dream (I know I'll not find another one any time soon) I'm going to have to let it go before I've even lifted a finger on it.

Now I know what I paid for it, but I now need every penny I can get, yes it has a somewhat unknown history regarding the cat c but do you guys think I would be taking the piss if I put it up for £3k?

Here's a run down of what I know so far and what I've had a chance to suss out from having it here.

1994 300zx twin turbo UK model

Manual gearbox and t top in white. 67000 miles, full service history and all old mots.

Cobra alarm and tracker, electric black leather interior.

I purchased this earlier in the year with hopes to fully restore it however my circumstances have changed and I havnt even started any work.

About the car, it was previously a cat C , the previous owner was unaware of This, the only repairs I can find so far are both bumpers have been replaced along with the boot lid, I can see no evidence of any structural damage.

The car had been dry stored for 4 years prior to me purchasing it, And between the previous owner and his brother they had owned it for the last 17 years with only 1 owner prior to that.

The car does have rust in the usual areas, sills and in front of rear arches. Drivers side is quite bad, the previous owner was part way through changing injectors and the plenum is off , he supplied new sealed Nissan injectors along with many spare parts.

I have not had it running.

Nice alloys that could do with a refurb, uprated front mount intercooler and a very large and expensive AP racing 6 pot front big brake set up.

The interior is in good shape for it's age with only some rubbage on the drivers seat bolster.

T tops seal well and don't leak, has the covers for them in the boot, paintwork definitely needs a polish up and minor rust bobbles in places but very minor.

Has an aftermarket sterio and a discrete custom built base box and amplifier in the boot that are hidden under the carpet and still has the spare wheel in there.

Lots of spare parts included. And lots of paperwork, bills ect including every mot from new.

Previous owner had a new clutch fitted 4 years ago and it's done less than 1000 miles since then.

Private plate just been valued at £450 would be included with the sale .

So what do you all think?

By the way this is not an advert in anyway, the car is not currently for sale, admin, if I'm not allowed to ask about this please let me know and I will edit or delete as appropriate.

I.look forward to your replies

3k seam's fair and you are subscribed so you are free to sell mate.

Hi gaz thanks for an honest reply.

The whole situation is really getting to me.

The petrol head inside me is screaming to get it in the garage and even if it sits there for years, I'll still have it to fix up when circumstance get better.

But I'm being selfish I guess, got 2 small kids and a wife to keep, it will inevitable cost me a fair bit of money to restore which could and probly should be spent on creating memories with them.

I'm just really gutted, keep looking and I can picture it all done

Sorry to hear mate.

You can always wait until things settle and save up some pennies in the future :)

Personally I think £3k is way to much for a none running cat c BUT it’s worth what someone’s prepared to pay. If you’re asking £3k and someone wants it and has the money net then that’s great. :clover:

Yeah I don't want to rip anyone off, along with needing to get the best price, as said it's only worth what someone is willing to pay.

I don't know if it's worth me at least attempting to get the plenum on , drain the fuel and at least see how it runs, so as to be in a better position to sell it.

Believe it or not I've never even been in one of these just always wanted one by the way they look, that and my brothers boss had one in the nineties and he always said how quick it was.

Anyone local to biggin hill Or Lewisham that would be willing to take me for a drive in one? At least that will I'm sure make my mind up on whether to put it away untill I'm in a better position
