As I know 90% of the people on this board are involved in IT someone must be able to offer a little advice.

I'm trying to get hold of either a Compact Flash or PCMCIA Bluetooth card for my Mac running OS X.

The machine is Bluetooth enabled but I don't know what software, drivers etc I need.

I know that I can get a USB solution relatively cheep and easily, but I was hoping for a neater solution utilising the PCMCIA slot.

Any advise appreciated.

Okay, on another tack.

Anyone got a CF Bluetooth card I could try, just to see if it work?

Tim

You seem to be lacking responses but if it's of any help then I use a bluetooth dongle which just sits on the end of a USB lead and works perfectly. I know you didn't want to go down the USB route but just thought I'd mention it !

I've got a Wavelinker USB dongle (I chuckle to myself eveytime I see that word :D )

Only about £27.00 from http://www.dabs.com - it works very well.

Dave,

When we next meet up, we can do an experiment to see how far apart we can put our dongles and still be able to stay in touch.

I reckon mine would have the greatest range.

cue : a thread of dongle jokes ...

ROFLMAO !!!!

:D :D :D

I think the range is supposed to be about 10 meters- so don't sell yourself short Dave!

I also have a USB dongle and have had no problems with it. Installed the drivers that came with it and hey presto!! PCMCIA should be exacly the same.

10m or 100m, depending upon which version/signal strength you use I think.

Thanks for the responses, I guess I'm just going to have to go for the USB Dongle, as I can't find a CF or PCMCIA card that has Mac drivers.

Bit of a bummer really as I wanted to just leave the card in the PCMCIA slot.

If it helps Tim, mine's a Tecom and was the cheapest I could find at the time (got it from expansys).

However, I'm yet to hear anyone having problems with one so I've got no reason to believe mine is better or worse than any other.
