Which turbo?

Hi all

As I am new to this forum, and to Z's in general I was wondering which turbo the Z has as standard? (I haven't actually purchased my Z yet, but it will be bought in a few months).

I have four 200SX turbo's, which the standard turbo is a T25 garratt (are we talking of two T25s?), how long do the turbos last?, and how much is a couple of hybrids?

Also, what should I be looking for when buying a Z?? I assume the lower the mileage the better, but are they prone to anything major at any particular mileage?

Thanks for your help

Luke

Manuals have two garret T25's .

Not sure about auto's, I think I read that they are smaller .

Regardless of age and/or mileage try and buy one with a recent cam belt service.

look for full service history with a sweet engine. and take ya time in looking.

cheers

steve

Cheers guys... I take it that a cambelt costs shed loads to replace then?... what are the service intervals for a cambelt on the 300? are we looking at around 60K or much sooner?

I'm assuming that with the standard couple of T25's I could expect around the 400bhp mark quite easily??... just going by the easy of tuning a 200sx.

Is the 300 limited to 155mph? or do they go better than that in standard form?... just asking mind, obviously I wouldn't drive over 60mph on an A road!!:D

Cheers

P.S. I would only be getting a manual Z:)

Hello there, fellow yorkshire man. The cam belt costs £200 to replace including labour. Best buy a car with low mileage. Give them a good test drive and check for the usual things for a turbo cars. The turbos can last anywhere between 60k to 100k depends on how well the cra has been serviced(oil changes after every 3000 miles) also with turbo cars you really have to leave them on tickover before switching off.

They are brill cars though and have plenty of character.

Look for gearbox wear and also turbo wear. Buy the manual as they have bigger turbos, and i think that they are really punchy and add to the driving experience(personal opinion). Im still waiting for my Z to come in from Japan. Ive had one before and they are great.

All the best

... cheers fellow yorkshire man... so how is Bradford this time of the year?... I'm from Doncaster, but work in Hull at the moment.

..as with my 200, a turbo timer is one of the first add-on's I shall be doing... I just love the 300, and now I can just about afford one (both buy and run), I shall be getting one in the next few months... and personally I would rather pay a grand or so more to get a minter that one that's seen a bit too much tarmac.

Cheers

Max wheel BHP on a 300zx is around 400, but youd need to do some major upgrading ie injectors, clutch, exhaust, ecu, intake ect.. lots of boost lol.

The 300zx turbo is not a proper T25 it is a mix of T25/T22 housing i think.
