I have an engine problem, and we can't figure it out :(

I pulled out the car and I took it to a company to clean it inside and outside. I told them specifically not to wash the engine, and as far I can see it was not touched.

Inside of the car it was thoroughly washed, vacuum cleaned.

On the way home soething strange happened, and since then is doing it nonstop.

When I start the engine the car is working nice, properly.

When I start to move up to 2000RPM the car is going good. At EXACTLY 2000 RPM the car starts to jump, but when I mean jump then it jumps, shakes and is loosing power. If it falls below 2000 the car is good again.

My mechanic tried everything, he couldn t find any mistake nowhere.

Any ideas?

We are going crazy....

Sounds like you could have water affecting the MAF.

You will need to check the connections under the nose panel.

Also, you may need to check your air filters for water ingress.

I'm guessing they may have used a power washer?

Wet maf, more so with an aftermarket cone filter, take off nose panel to access, although it will probably dry out on its own by the morning

Probably they used it, I have no idea. But the engine bay was untouched, so there was no water. From outside it was washed many times, never happened before.

MAF you mean Mass flow sensor ?

Could have sprayed water through the front bumper when cleaning, if you don't have the splash guard that can happen quite easily.

I'd bet my mortgage on it that its a wet MAF. Thats exactly what my first zed used to do in wet weather without fail. Made a splash guard for the MAF under the nose panel and never ever had the problem again.

You're right, that is the proble. It was full of water and it doesn't react anymore. So I need a new one. Any ideas from wherw can I order in EU?

Try to dry out the MAF and clean it with air flow sensor cleaner. It might be fine.

We just did that. Doesn't work anymore. It had water inside for more than 2 weeks, maybe more.

I just found new on on amazon uk, so I ordered one, not too expensive.

Thats probably a chinese copy, thats not very reliable, new maf and cheap cannot be in the same sentence lol, better off buying a known working used one if not brand new :thumbup1:

Well if you could suggest where I can look for some, I would appreciate it

Place a wanted ad here on the forum, there are likely a few spares knocking around or someone breaking a zed, second hand you are still looking at around £80-£100 as they are getting rarer/

See how your Amazon one works out, i only mentioned the Chinese copies as advertised on ebay as being poor, you may be lucky.
