I think it's headgasket as I'm sure there is oil residue in the coolant. I just cannot get anyone local to look at it, I also cannot source a reasonably priced 2nd hand engine so it's go to go.

 

Believe it or not I have also lost the logbook BUT I have sent off (few days ago) to dvla for another which should be here within two weeks. So come and look at it now, leave a deposit, when the logbooks here, drive it away.

 

It's doing the car no good just sitting here, so take it away at a steal of a price. It'll go in the autotrader when the logbook comes which I'm sure will sell it but I'd rather give u guys a chance 1st.

eck that thread. there are a few photo's in there. The body work looks great and the zeemax kit is quite nice. If you do decide to break it rather than sell it. Let me have a price on the front bumper and rear spoiler :D ;)

if it is simply a head gasket u r flying ...... if u can take the engine out .....

 

but ...

 

what about warped heads ???? if the block is cracked ???? and if the leak was bad there could be a significant amount of water in the oil ..... turbos like water to cool them down ! not lubricating them

Fair points Scott.......I agree - you can only be 100% sure what it'd need once the heads were off. But considering it's a HPi clear, twin turbo manual, with lots of goodies on it, I think that the price was fair even if it needed another engine. Japparts wanted £1100 for a warranted 40k mile engine...but I couldnt anyone who'd fit it. Someone handy with a spanner could have bought the engine and fitted it themselves. So thats £3000 for a cracking car in good working order.

 

But thats worst case scenario...it might only need headgaskets, which are £200?

 

I have been honest about what i know about it's problems.

 

Thats all academic now anyway; a nice chap from Stoke has come down tonight and left £200 deposit on the car, paying the balance tomorrow. He's got a lump lined up and he's dropping that in it.

 

Put in the 'online' Trader at 11.30am, my phone hasn't stopped all day! Think I underpriced it....ah well....

 

Reckon I'll need to unplug me phone when the Trader magazine comes out on Thursday lol :D

 

ps Scott, I had a zx9r c1 in summer 2001, v.fast but spin up too easily...put me in hospital for 1 month :(.

I got C1 as well ... full yanagawa paint job !!!

Have you thought of splitting it? Sure you'd make a killing on parts - I could do with the full manual gearbox/pedal box/clutch etc etc...
