So, long before I was semi-permanently sat behind a sewing machine, I had a sort of dream of being big in the music industry. After a couple of covers bands, I decided that it was probably the right time to see what my own songs would sound like with a band behind them.

I found myself a drummer and a bassist, we set about rehearsing the hell out of everything for months on end and then, finally, we headed out to dominate the world! Well... Middlesbrough... :pinch:

For a couple of years, we generated a bit of a buzz locally but, inevitably, personal politics crept in to the band and we decided to call it a day.

Problem was, I still had a rather sizeable songbook that I wanted to explore. So I bought a home studio of sorts, learned how to play all the other instruments (I was the vocalist / guitarist in the band) and decided to see just how difficult it could be to construct a song all on my own.

The answer, it transpires, is fairly difficult! I learned as I went with Cubase when it came to mixing all the tracks together and, for the most part, I think they've turned out ok. The songs are higher quality than "demo" but they could really benefit from a professional's touch.

Anyway, enough waffling. Here's what I used to do before I decided to earn a living the hard way... A Nation Rising:

I may have been a little mullered last night when I decided to make this thread... I woke up this morning having one of those "Er... I did what now?!" moments...

There's also Tom Wilson (tomfromthenorth) who's a rather accomplished guitarist.

I'd love to get back into it as I haven't done any recording for a good few years now, but I just don't have the free time anymore... :(

I enjoyed listening to you music Simon, thanks for sharing! Favourite photo of the band playing?

Most of my pics from my band days are on another hard drive, but these are probably my favourites anyway :)

Simon id be proud mate to have produced that,You should pursue that when you can as you have talent :punk:

I wish I could, buddy! As I said though; no free time nowadays and, just to really wind me up, my voice has all but packed up now as well. :(

I've currently got about a third of the range I used to have "back in the day," although that could be partially down to the fact that I don't sing much these days....

The link isn't working for me, Facebook doesn't show it

On phone or PC? I couldnt open it on phone but worked fine on computer

Man of many talents Si  you and Groover should get together for the AGM next year and that would be our band sorted.
