Great site. My first visit.

My problem: the heating (A.C.) on my car starts going cold after a while. This seems to be because the ambient temperature reading goes very high (40degrees +) The A.C. seems to think the car is warm and therefore shuts of the heating. I guess I could cure this if I could find where the temperature sensor is for the ambient temp.

Any ideas anyone?

Is the reading constently high, i.e. start at 30º and goes up and down with the temperature or is it very irretic? Becuase if it is reading high all the time, but just reading too much you can set the offset down

 

The temp sensor for inside the car is located in the vents near the interior light. The big light not the 2 small reading lights.

Thanks Stuart. The temp seems to work well for the first 10 mins or so but as the car warms up it just gets higher and higher and stays there. In the town it rises much more slowly but on the motorway it rises more rapidly.

 

Also, not associated but I'd appreciate your opinion. I've had my car, non-turbo, manual for about 18 months and its been superb. The oil pressure settles doen to just over a quarter on the dial. It rises at higher revs but nver much above half dial. It's been like this since I got the car and there are no unusual noises or indications of smoke or engine wear. Whatyathink?

Sounds really like the temperature sensor.

 

I think is it in the nose of the car some where, but shielded as to not be effect by the wind.

here is the online manual of the car, it will be in the wireing and AC section some where. Have a look there see if you can see where it is. I will look to. 4 eyes are better then 2. ;)

i have a j-spec 2+2 TT, my oil pressure is the same as yours, settles doen and then never goes over 1/2 on high revs, dunno if this is normal either??:confused:

You can;t really trust the stock oil pressure gauge or the boost gauge. Most people buy pods and have seperate gauges for more accurate readings.

 

My Jap sepc's oil gauge (stock) is all over the shop but the car is sweet.

not mechanically minded (quite retarded !!) have noticed in rides section that aux gauges are fitted inside cabin, is this an exceptionally difficult job and lots of pennies???

Given up using boost gauge, according to stock one im boosting when parking!!!
