1- dunno, are they all the same length??

2- convert to mp3 or wma format, search for utilities

3- ? not sure, what are you trying to do, burn to a cd??

Give me more detail. Where you getting these waves from?

Waves files are RAW files and can not be compresses. All you can do is make the sample rate smaller losing quality, or make it Mono or 8bit, or both, again making it lose quality.

What you mean send to disc? What are they on at the moment? Are you trying to make a CD out of them?

Stuart

Hi,

As said above wav files are a raw lossless format, you use this if you want top quality. You can make them smaller by converting them to MP3 - but that is a lossy format (some of the sound info is lost) it will go down from 32MB to about 3MB.

It all depends what you want to do with them - if its just general listening/storing them on your hard disk, then use the MP3 format, if you are into sound editing etc then use the WAV format.

Cheers guys,

I,ve done heaps of music, the 10 trax that im most proud of i want to copy to cd. All trax between 3-5 min but all saved in desktop @ 32meg  all derive from shop bought programmes, but not one piece of litrature tells how to 'save' other than hard drive, & that 'aint gonna fit in the Z lol.

I cant even mail the buggers:mad:

Whats the point of buying studio software doing months of sampling/editing creating good club tunes, if it just sits in windows grinning at me:(

I think i'll wash the car instead...................harve

By the sounds of it these tracks will not be WAV files, but inface some sort of MOD file simalar to the ones used for Amiga games. Is there any way of converting the sounds to wav? There must be. A 4 min WAV should be about 50-60mb at CD quality.

Simple solution. Log onto Kazzar or Winmx. Sear for your favorite songs. Download them in with a decent bit rating.

go to download.com. Download Nero. burn them onto CDR. Problem solved.

Same with films download them in AVI format (about a gig a film on average). Download Virtual Dub and create the Wav file for the film, encode and convert it using TMPGEnc, outputing it to a mpeg file. Again use Nero to burn the film onto VCD or Super VCD.

DISCLAIMER:

Obviously I have never done this myself as it's against the law

;)

Havre? Can you play your music on Winamp? Sould be able to. If so there is an option on Winamp on the output plugins on the preferences, and select "Winamp Output to Wav" This will then record the any music you play and turn it into a WAV file. Make sure you put it back after. You should then have a CD quality Wav file which can be used on CD writer.

It sounds to me like Harve has been making his *own* tracks, and wants to get them on a CD. If this is the case then...

1) I'm guessing that the editing software has given him a 32Meg buffer to work within, which is why all the files are coming out at 32Meg when they get saved. You might be able to tell the software to save only the 'in-use' part of the buffer. If not, crop the waveform yourself before you save it. Maybe that will bring the size down.

2) Mostly already answered. If you want to create a CD of the tunes, though, don't convert them: you need them in WAV format.

3) You can't use "Send to" to put files on a CD. At least, I don't think you can... maybe you could with a CD-RW drive and some clever software. Get some CD burning software (Nero, Easy CD, etc) and use that to write all the tracks.

Actually, after thinking about it a bit more I think most of what I said in answer to question 1 is probably bollocks  I'll leave it though, in case it might actually help. :D

Raz. I was thinking the same thing about the buffering though, but have not seen anything that does it that way for at least 5 years.

I think you can use the send to, in Windows XP, but I think it will put them onto a data CD and not a audio CD.

Im taking notes :) keep going i'll sort it in the end, hell i'll even give you a mench in the sleive notes:D
