I've got a film over the rear windows of my Z to make them tinted.

Is this stuff easy to get off?I haven't tried it yet, just in case I make it worse! If it's a bugger then I'll leave it alone, but if it's pretty straightforward then I might give it a go.

Cheers,

F.T.

Same here. It's a bit tatty and I want to remove it but unsure if it'll make more of a mess.

My scoob is the same. The read demister has cut/melted horizontal lines into the tint. I want to remove it but going on the experience of a friend who tried the same on his car, i wouldn't recommend it unless you have a lot of time and patience.

His side windows weren't too bad to get the film of as he could scrape at it while applying a liberal amount of white spirit.

The rear was a different matter. He couldn't scrape at it much as he would end up cutting the demister lines. It took him about 6 hours to get the film off and the back window still looked a mess. There may be an easier way to remove this stuff but i don't know it.

hair dryer usually works followed by white spirit

Yup, hairdryer is the way to go - followed by IPA or Acetone (nail polish remover)

i had a bit on one of the corner windows and it just peeled straight off and cleaned with window cleaner. must have been lucky!

Only do it if you have loadsa time...and patience (did I spell that right?)

Tints can be a real pain in the a*** to get off... In my case, even harder than findin a bird to get off wiv!!!

But, to only have the rear quarter tinted is tacky, so it's definitely worth the sweat and time.

I suggest you firstly start the car up, switch off all demisters, turn the heating to the max and blast it on full power. Once the condensation has fully built up get to work.

Go to a professional car tinting specialist. My rear screen was a bloody mess when I bought the car, couldn't see a damn thing. Took it to A40 windscreens (just by the A40 funny enough) who cleaned off all the old crap and replaced with top quality stuff (£120 all in)......or maybe I'm just lazy.;)
