RichardS Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 It is indeed sad to see its production end. The Defender is an iconic vehicle; which has earned its place in the motoring hall of fame.... But citing emissions standards due in 2020 - really? In the Defender's 67 years of production, it certainly has not continued with the same engine!! Pop in the new JLR 2.0TDi Ingenuim engine from the latest Disco Sport, Evoque and XE and I'm sure it could be tweaked to deliver the same "go anywhere" capability it always had, but with the same green credentials as a modern car. It is just progress - time catches up with everyone and everything in the end.... Hopefully the replacement will be a worthy successor - and at least it won't be wearing lederhosen!! Quote I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
