Ok guys, probably should of started this last year when I decided to resurrect my 1993 JDM 300zx Twin Turbo Auto. I said I call the car "Blue Thunder" (mostly just to annoy everyone:tt2:) as it will be loud and blue:thumbup:.

You'll have to bear with me as I'm going to use previous posts off this forum for most of the current bits and I'm not "computer super proficient" with adding images etc

I'll start at the very beginning if I can remember back that far:lol: (No pics in this quick update) (This is for the benefit of anyone joining after '09)

Bought the car in the summer of 2005, a low mileage (42K) 1993 300zx TT auto, within a few months the timing belt had stripped some teeth, luckily no engine damage. Replaced belts, series 2 PTU and bought my 19" TSW Catalunyas. Had to get the rear wheels custom made to 9.5" as they weren't available in this size:thumbup1:. Went on to buy a Pioneer Avic X1R single DIN touchscreen Sat-Nav stereo to liven up the sounds and my Brembo Big Brake kit.

July 2006 - Engine had a ticking noise, nothing major, diagnosed as sticky lifters, recommended solution was an oil change. Bought 2 4.5 litres of Castrol Edge 10W60, oil filter and an engine flush, brought it to a "garage" and asked them to drop the oil, using the engine flush, refill with the fresh Castrol oil heat it up, flush it out, fit the new filter and refill with the other container of Castrol Edge...Simples:innocent:

Collected the car and went home, got to the house and the engine turned into a tractor, lifted the bonnet, oil everywhere, they'd put the full 9 liters into the car and wrecked the engine.:scared::thumbdown: After a few arguments and the backing of the Motor Factors owner where the oil was bought, the "Garage" eventually admitted responsibility. They sent the car to another "Garage" who was fitting the new engine from API, more drama, Radio was stolen in their care and engine lasted a day, oil sump had been damaged and suction pipe couldn't get enough oil in, another knackered engine:scared::thumbdown:.

2007 - Sued the "Garage" and got the car back 2008.:thumbup1:

2008 - 2009 Went to a decent bloke who sorted the engine, did the manual conversion, fitted a brand new Exedy street performance clutch with an RPS Lightweight Flywheel, BuddyClub Racing Spec Coilovers, Z1 hardpipes and HKS Induction kit. November '09 Hydrolocked the engine driving into a puddle:scared::thumbdown:

2010 - After getting "Ripped off" on a Border Fuel Rail, 555 injectors and Japanese "UK" Clocks (meant to be UK but had been converted) and with a 9% pay deduction and extra Levies / charges on Civil Servants (totalling a 60% deduction of my already diminished gross pay), I called it a day on the Z:thumbdown:

I'd love to bring the car over to Jimmer, my plan is to get the car driving and bring it over to Jimmer for a thorough inspection and then up to Noz for a remap:thumbup1:

I'll get there some day, my other idea is to ship my spare engine over to him for a fully forged rebuild and then drive the car over to him and get him to swap out the engines, I'd then leave him the old running engine as part payment:innocent:, At least that's the way I'm playing it out in my head:biggrin:

Better bring the kids along and tell them its a 'holiday'.

They look absolutely gorgeous! You must be chuffed to bits.

Great stuff Richie

Thanks guys, I'm well chuffed to see the final finished product, BIG THANKS to Brendan at Team Chihuahua for doing them for me:bow::bow: The guy is truly talented:thumbup:

On another note, finally managed to get the car out from the garage, bit disappointed when I found half the hoses I bought just lying in a box, sorry to have to say this but I'm finished with them, gone is the craftmanship and dedication, to be replaced with a "fast buck" attitude. Gone also is my friendship that I thought I had (thats' what happens when you let your girlfriend run the show, I suppose). Not worth the stress giving out to them about it, but I paid €2.2k (up from the agreed €1500) to have the engine fitted and that's all I got, the new place is going to install the fan shroud, replace all the old brittle vacuum pipes, fit the intercoolers, chipped 555's ECU and let the fabricator in to do the exhaust, stuff that I thought would have been done for the exorbitant price.

Anyway, onwards and upwards:innocent::whistling:

Sold my L200 Monster truck today, so I'll have a few quid to have her running in the next month or so:punk: Took in a 00 Nissan Patrol as a trade in, this will do me for tipping around in until I sell that also.

So today (Sunday) I completed a 400km round trip to collect my wheels and tyres, hopefully will have the clutch slave, exhaust, wheels, ECU and Intercoolers fitted by the end of the week:thumbup1:

Also ordered some 130 degree 2.5"-2" reducing elbows for the Selin kit, made an offer of $36 AUS (€24) for a pair of 4ply ones that look capable, delivered to the door, will be here by March 7th, I'll let you know how they work out:thumbup:

Organised to have the car lift all day tomorrow, Big thanks to Ian (Ernie), he's said that if I can do as much of the work myself, it's free of charge and he'll only charge me for stuff that he physically does himself:thumbup1:, I've organised a welder to be there tomorrow for the exhaust work. I'm hoping my brother can come over to help remove the front bumper and fit the intercoolers, ecu and fan shroud:thumbup1:

Greddy Intercoolers fitted, bumper removed for painting, €150 doesn't seem a bad price:thumbup1:, that will be painted next week:thumbup1:

Clutch slave is done but the pedal is up but there was no fluid coming out when we tried to bleed it:confused1:, the exhaust is messy, my guy looked at it and reckons the easiest thing to do is fit a flexi pipe to the down pipes, ordered two 2.5" flexi sections, that's going to be done next Tuesday:thumbup1: HKS induction kit refitted while I wait on my new hoses for the dual intake, I still have the ECU to fit, is this just a straightforward plug and play swap??

Finally placed my order with CZP for the remaining parts required to build my car to the way I want it:thumbup:

Flat broke again

Now to start saving for the bodywork side of things:scared:

Hopefully have my rear bumper and subframe in the coming week also:thumbup:

Clutch Master cylinder should be here today or tomorrow and I've located a centre section for the exhaust, hoping to have that by next week, so fingers crossed she will be finished mechanically by the week after:punk:

So my Clutch Master Cylinder arrived, hopefully getting it fitted over the coming days:thumbup:

Didn't get the clutch master done today (both lifts in use). So I decided as it was dry today that I'd work outside the garage, Fitted my UK spec clocks and my Momo Race steering wheel:thumbup:

There's no exhaust from the downpipes back and I've switched ECU's for the 550 injectors, will need a remap when everything is fitted:thumbup1:

Great work so far Richie. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Thanks Rob, I was just thinking this morning, would the MAF be causing it to idle roughly if it was damaged???

I sucked up a fair bit of water that time, could / would that damage the MAF??

I might switch it out today and see if there's any difference:thumbup1:

It could, yeah. See here the problems I had when my air filters were dropping oil: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?183788-Erratic-Idle

In my case it's been fine since, so probably no permanent damage to the MAF. Considering the flooding and how long your car has been sitting I'd buy some MAF cleaner and give it a go first.

I have 2 other MAF's that came with the Selin Kit, I'll switch it out with one of them:thumbup1:
