Its the biggest waste of time. There is no difference in the car, its not deeper and the turbos dont spool up. Waste of money...........

NOT!

Pulled out of the garage doing 20 or so in 2nd, thought I would have a go and floor it and I didnt accelerate too much becuase of the wheel spin I was doing. You can see by the rev needle that the engine is breathing better, not only does it go up quicker when you rev it but it also falls quicker.

You can tell be the exhaust gas that its breathing better. Put you hand by the pipes while it's idleing and it feels like a gale blowing when before if just felt like little puffs of air.

If this is what the car is like with gutted cats, make you wonder what its like when you chip it and have the boost turned up .:D

I reccomend anyone who is thinking of doing it to get it done.

I got mine done at C&S Woods in Astley between Manchester and Wigan. Cost me less than £60 to get them gutted.

They also washed my car too. It needed it. :D

Id do it but im scared of the seals being blown out of the exhaust :)

I guess my turbos have only done 40k though.....

Yup :D its is noticible, but did they gut them or replace them with straight through pipes?

Because if you just gut them, the airflow is tumbled around in the new gaping hole you have lol, not ideal.

Had them gutted. Take them off and open them up and take them out and seem wheld it back. Not the thing with the long drill bit

Nice one Stu, can he put the cats back in for MOT time ;)

Quality Stu, this really is one mod I would like, but am sooooooo worried about seals, be interesting to see how you get on. :)

Funny enough I did get the pipes off Johnny but decided against because of seals and I think they were for a 2+2.

Can anyone confirm there is a difference between swb and lwb?

Cheers

Martin

Martin - pretty sure I remember reading that from the CAT's back, the exhausts are the same..

So logic dictates that the bits you have (the cat replacement pipes) are the bits that need to be different..

D'oh..

Before I removed my cats I installed the breather kit to stop my seals from leaking. The only problem was the breather kit was just a pain in the arse so I decided to take it off the other week. I was a bit worried about the seals cos my Z has done 99k :( but (touch wood) it has been fine so far. Not a sign of blue smoke :)

I think if your cars been well looked after it should be fine.

Rob.

Well "breather kit lol" fit one at your own peril.

The official diagnosis of my turbo failure was due to that crappy piece of shit BREATHER KIT (oil starvations - try it turbos love it lol)

As for oil seals i have new turbos and no cats and was advised by company that so long as you still have backpressure (which your exhaust will give you regardless) you should not have a problem with well looked after turbos.

Nope sorry Az that can't be right, they are definately different from the cats back!!!

Still confused lol

martin,

I think Az's logic escaped him there, what he actually meant to say was pretty sure I remember reading that from the CAT's forward, the exhausts are the same..

From the cats back they are definitely different.

Er..

Oops.. Apologies, tis late, am tired, need bed, going there now...
