A bit of a long shot but.....I'm looking for OEM UK Radio and CD units for series 1 :detective:

That is not as big as a long shot as you might think, I know where there is a radio/cassette from an 89 as I spotted it today, do you want me to buy it for you :cool3:.

I have a couple of pairs of linked units (i.e. 2off radio + CD). Believed serviceable you're welcome to them if you pay postage.

This is out of a G plate Jap and the seller tells me and i have no reason to doubt it does work.

 

There was zero signs of any butchering of the wires, all very factory as I chopped off the multi plugs/aerial with decent tails.

 

The radio console was in the best condition i have ever seen one to be and i just had to have it also.

 

This is in an almost mint aesthetic condition.

 

 

 

I have the original cassette and CD units in my UK zed that I will be removing at some point, was going to list them on eBay but happy to accept offers on them.

I am very interested in a uk radio and cassette player.

So if GSC60 is sorted, I would like to be considered.

i also have a uk car with the cd player and the cassette player thats will be coming out in the next month will list when its out

Many thanks to those who have helped me with this so far.... I have got 3 CD units so far... But none will play CD.s.. They take control from the radio when the CD is inserted....but won't play !... Have contacted Clarion but they can't repair.... So still looking for a working CD unit if anyone can help?!!

It took me several attempts to get my CD player to work.

Turned out to be a cloudy lens in front of the laser.

You will need to dismantle it and very gently clean it with a cotton bud and some rubbing alcohol.

It is very fragile, so go easy.

I sort of had a go at this already... But couldn't get to the laser lens which was underneath/inside the mechanism.... How did you get to it?

Have you tried using a cleaning disc if its hard to get at the laser?

Keep at it Gary the oem music set up will be very sought after in years to come and demand silly prices like this new old stock for the Datsun Z's

If I remember correctly, there are several apertures cut through the framework.

If you hold it at an angle, you can just see a direct line to the lens.

I sprayed a little rubbing alcohol onto a cotton bud and gently went round in circles.

Please go very careful though as the lens seems to float around.
