Renewal is less than a month away and although I've a few left to try the best quote I've got yet is just under €3,400. Anyone have a useful contact in the insurance industry? Car is too new for a classic policy.

You never know mate, stranger things have happened!

I somehow doubt it Richie, but you never know

I'll sort something cheers for the help.

Things are just getting annoying now. I have options - expensive but they'll do if it comes to it. The bigger problem is no other underwriter will allow me to drive other cars due to my age! I have this benefit at the moment, driving a shed, yet I can't get it with a Z.

Missus just got a small car, so we'd manage with me as a named driver on it and insured on my Z. She has a provisional license and has never held insurance. I have a full license and NCB for three years. Most of them want an extra €2,000 or so to stick me on her policy!

Any updates on this Jay?? Why don't you keep the insurance on your "Shed" that lets you drive other cars and get the Z insured by your mam or dad? would you be covered fully comp though??

Still nothing cheaper, including trade. The "driving other cars" is only third-party cover, but I can't retain it anyway because apparently AXA bought out my policy in April and nobody told me!

I'm resigned to the cost but it's so frustrating that my only option to insure this car means I can't drive any other vehicle. Hope it doesn't snow this year.

Probably around €800. Not really worth it!

Yep it's scandalous. If I had been more realistic and bought an RX8 I could save nearly €2,500 yearly on tax and insurance, but unfortunately I just love the Z32 too much!

Even though it has slightly less power than the Z and is much worse in terms of pollution. Go figure.

Mate, just read through this thread. I really feel your pain.

I was with admiral for years, 2 cars good price. Then one year they wouldn't cover inports (all of a sudden) and I was really late to find Adrian Flux who would cover me.

I was prepared to miss a year out driving the zed, because I refused to pay over a grand on insurance. It is not proportional is it. Stupid money.

If I was you I would get the lowest quote of €3000 and some. Then within that amount find another solution. A cheap saxo, a cheap policy, then money for a year under the bonnet.

Awful to surrender, but we shouldn't pay these prices :clover:

I think the neighbours would complain if we got another car at this stage as it's getting a bit silly! Thanks for the sympathy though

Deposit paid, **** it, I'm driving this car.

If I could just get a third party extension I'd be happy enough.

Some more good news, father renewed his policy (back on his shed, not my Z) and got me named for €150. Same insurer wants €2,000 to name me on my girlfriend's policy.
