Did ya see? After doing one of the most boring reviews of the Skyline EVER last week, the 350z was mentioned on Top Gear tonight.

 

Started with a comment on the 240z - "a great car", then said it was followed by the "awful 260 and 280z".. "ending up with the 300 which was so bad it would kill you if you even thought of it"

 

With any luck that will put people off buying one and we can remain a bit more 'exclusive' on the road. I like the idea of driving a brutal car that scares Jezza!:D

 

Oh, and sorry to Senna, but I bought a copy of some Tiff Needel Worlds Greatest Cars type magazine thing. He hated the the new R34, and much preferred the similarly priced Honda NSX (end of the road for the legendary Skyline?:eek: )

I presume he meant the old 300z, which i have to agree is incredibly bad. Still the Z club will not be happy with his comments. Pretty ignorant of him to not even bother mentioning our zeds though!

Now Clarkson says he doesn't like the Z300.

 

BUT

 

- in 1997 a book was published by Virgin Books called "Jeremy Clarkson's Hot 100". It includes the Nissan 300ZX, about which the writer (presumably Clarkson) says:

 

"With its twin-turbo engine, there was predigious power but it was the smoothness that impressed most of all. It felt, in many ways, like it was a turbine. And the handling showed big car purpose too. At the Snetterton race track, there was wallow and roll but at no time did it ever do anything untoward."

 

And it goes on with other positive points, while adding his preference of the 240 and a dig at Americans (fair enough).

 

So, was he telling porkies last week, or (surely not) did someone else write that book???????????

 

Maybe he was just having an off day last Sunday.

Its funny and shows up the hypocracy in JC's words - as in his '100 best cars of all time' video, the 300zx comes in at something like 95 with good praise and the Skyline GTR at number 12 (or thereabouts)

 

JC is there only to court contraversy, which he does very well.

 

But I long since gave up respecting his opinion on cars.

 

BUT when Needels says he prefers the NSX to the GTR, well, I fully respect that.

 

Also, whilst we are on the subject, VBH could be sitting in a 2CV and I'd watch. ;)

so how about a group moan to top gear, dare him to go out for a ride with ian mac and show him how "shit" these cars really are...

I too thinks he was slating the Z31, which face it compared to the 240z is shite. Me want's a 240Z.

I think the only reason he is winding different groups up is for marketing purposes lol, lets see if we insult this group how many of them are watching :D:D

 

I think he was on about the z31 as the 350 is more a result of the 240-ect , it does really not carry much over regarding the z32 does it?

 

The track thing is still a bit of a farce in my opinion.

and they seemed to start with that being a large part of the show, now it is falling by the wayside.

i used to like watching him go on about certain cars , watched him ditch the TvR about the wipers shearing the wires and stopping in rain etc , among other things , then at the motor show i watched him on the TvR video praising em and slating porches ?? oh well there he goes again

I once posted up a review of the brand new 300ZX Twin Turbo when it was new...yeah back in the day! 89/90 journalists took it out and guess what?

 

Brakes failed, it smoked from the exhausts, lost power etc.

 

Fact 1 : Jezzer didn't do the review on the Skylarks from what I observerd. Fatboy did, and he never really slagged them off so the Skyline owners brigade are acting like kids to be honest. He made some practical observations about the various incarnations of the cars that made sense to me!

 

Fact 2 : Yeah he said the 300 was a bad car but do you really think that a motoring journalist who has driven Ferraris, Astons, Lambos, Nobles, Fords, Seats, VW's, Fiats, Vectras etc. really worries about his career being on the stake of burning fire just because the Skylark or 300 brigade club get the hump??? LMFAO :D

Not bad viewing. At the end he has a go in a ford rs200 with over 700bhp :eek: and crashes it bwhahahaha class, then has a go in the JUN skyline over the 1/4mile the yello one with 1000brake and loves it to bits, hell having seen that thing and they want £50000.... where do i get the money lol

LOL, I watched something the other day when he was nailing 10 200mph plus cars around and slid a riduculously uncontrollable jag (XJ15 I think) into the camera car. :D:D:D

It was ill informed comments but aint worth the huha that has gone on... its basically because some muppet put the story in the Daily Mirror about him being sacked as honourary president of the club. Which isnt a club. Then the toys left the pram.

 

I didnt even realise he was honourary president anyway, and gtr.co.uk isnt a club.

 

For once we agree tim, its all a load of b*llocks.
