got details of car that done it from a witness. only problem was I was parked on double yellows at the time (2 mins while dropping a vid back to blockbuster's where everyone parks at night)

will this make any difference if i tell plod?? anyone know??

Don't worry about the parking. They've almost certainly got other things to worry about but what's the worst they can do - parking fine ?

And get the git who drove off.

Dave

Paul, sos about yer little accident, double yellows should have no bearing on what happend, the owner of the other car was clearly careless in their driving, irrespective of where you were, simple as !

cheers

smithy

um...be careful...

Some idiot i know was drunk, crashed into a parked car..... He claimed on the other persons insurance and the other person got in trouble cos the car was apparently parked to near to a corner.

This could be a similar thing.

Just a thought.

hi,

as said - dont think you will have any probs there.

they are in the wrong and also it is illegal to leave the scene of the incindent.

si

Was this some kinda Jap experiment or summat??? Sometimes I wonder!

What a c**t:mad: Hope they did not do a sharp exit because they had no insurance?

Hope you get it sorted mate.

Hi Paul, that's not good.

Both my sister and borther in law are rozzers (that's why I haven't seen them for 6 months LOL).

To be on the safe side, tell them the engine was still running.

this way it's not classed as parking, it's classed as waiting. Which on a double yellow you are allowd up to 5 minutes waiting.

I hope you get it all sorted.

dunno, i reversed into someone years ago parked on double yellows, no matter how I argued I lost. Didn't go through plod though.

Not sure about telling plod the engine was running if there was no one in the car, that's prolly a bigger offence than the yellows.

How is leaving your engine running an offense ?

May not look good to the iunsurance company but I can't see how it's an offense. I'll check that with my plod side of the family.

Dunno the details or 100% sure, but we had a discussion on our board RE the legality of turbo timers and I reckon some bloke asked a plod. I can deffo understand it from ins' point of view.

might be bull, but check it first so not to land in deeper poo.

thanks for the response guys, its not done too much damaged, its cracked the front no. plate holder & scratched the front bumper, nothing too drastic, its just pissed me off that they just left really.

the car wasnt causing an obstruction, it was parked on a straight bit of road, hope im not gonna get stitched up if i report it tho.

the car was brand new (02) so chances are they were insured - just thought they could get away with it i suppose.

I believe that if your engine is running and there's no one in it, you are deemed not to be in proper control of the vehicle and this is illegal.

Also, IIRC it is only illegal to leave the scene of an accident if someone is injured but this isn't definitive - better check with the boys in blue.

I would guess your best bet is to tell your insurance company about the reg of the other car and they will go after them like a rottweiler. In order to do this, you have to get an incident number from the police but I shouldn't think you'll get any problems from the double yellows. My guess is that they'll just note it, give you the incident number over the phone and forget it.

Good luck - Gio

Why tell them you were on double yellows?

Was it dark?

Chances are the other guy doesn't know you were on yellows anyway.

If you bumped into someone and decided to do a runner would you be checking out the road markings first?

I doubt if it would get as far as someone taking a look at the site of the accident.
