I am not here to have a go at them. I am having ago about how the Labour government deal with it.

My frame on mind is that there are some people who are in deep trouble and need to leave thier country and they wish to live in a safe place, work and live a normal life, and this is where they need our help. Then there are the ones who come her and take the piss and just want an easy life living on benefit and then bring all their family over for an easy life too.

 

As we all have noticed that there are more and more asylum seekers around your area like here too. My mum works in a school where more and more are turning up every week.

One lad in particular, aged about 14-15, came to this country, from Kosavo, only knowing a little English. As he got better so did his work. One peice of work was about why they came here. The story told of how the Kosavo army took their house and all thier belongings and gave them to some one else. Most probably because they where of a different religion. They had no family or no one they could go to. No one to go to get thier home back so they had to leave but not by their own choice. It broke my heart when my mum told me the story.

Any way. I regualry hear about this lad from my mum discribing him as a perfrect gentleman and a lovely lad. His english now is perfrect after less than a year here, he does all his work and he flew past his exams and is estimated to get a grade C or above in all his lessons. So he is doing better than 70% of the rest of the school.

Last week their family got orders to go home. :(

This is a family who needs our help. When asked what will happen when he goes home, he said he didnt know ah has no where to live.

 

On the other hand. The government are letting 2 gay Jamacian stay because they say, they live in fear of Homophobic abuse. Again in my mums school, a family from Poland and a family from Malta have been granded asylum becasue they are ECONOMIC REFUGEES. In other words they had no job where they came from. These 3 countries, Jamacia, Poland and Malta or not at war nor have they been in over half a centry. Their own army haven't thrown them out of thier own home. Their own government havent denied their existance. Yet they can stay.

 

What is this country coming too?

 

The sooner Labour get out of power the better. They have been ruining this country since they came in power.

WTF? Having lived in Malta for a couple of years, I find it impossible to beleive that they can be economic refugees. Their is NO unemployment, the FREE health service is far far better than ours, ample housing and you get to drive like a looney, top place!

This country is known as 'Treasure Island' in many places aound the world. There are SO many wanting to come in, and each has a story (true or not) to tell. How can you tell for a fact that one person has been forced at gun-point to leave their home, or if they just wanted a chance for a better standard of living? Ask the government of said tin-pot country if they kicked this person out? That aint gonna work.

 

There's just too many of them, and not enough resource to check up on each and every one.:(

 

I don't have any answers (I'm not Enoch Powell!:eek: ) but I understand how frustrating the 'double standards' can be.

 

I do know that we should be grateful as **** that we live here and don't have to put up with the shit that they go through in other countries.

This subject is never going to end amicably (thats a big word for me:D)

On the one hand its not nice to see them come over here and take the piss (although does anyone actually have proof?) i think the system is far to open to abuse.

On the other hand, as a human being you decide what you want in life and if they feel they need to get out of the country they come from then thats a desicion for them (and more power to them for wanting to improve their lifestyle)

 

But you cant really judge people for wanting to better themsleves unless you have been in the same situation can you?

I think there might be some inaccuracy - AFAIK, we do not allow economic migrants in (except from EU countries). So perhaps there were some other grounds about the other families you mention?

 

Anyway, we awarded Malta the George Cross in WWII for the bravery shown by all the islanders in keeping the Axis powers out and hence being invaluable in the Med for our Navy and RAF.

 

Part of the reason for Jamaica being the way it is is UK slavery and Empire.

 

We did go in to help Kosovo - and it seems to have worked. I know Kosovans are going back.

 

Any case, whoever said the Tories would be no better is quite right. They let Michael Howard's parents in as asylum seekers and look what a greasy little sh1t he's turned out to be. ;)

Yep but Malta refuses to join the EU and as for awarding the George Cross, Mintof repayed the gesture by booting out all the english within 24 hours!!
