Broadband by Satellite only. In order to get 2 way (as opposed to satellite down and modem up) I use BTInternet or BTConnect as it's called to the business world. £59.99 per month (+VAT) and £900 for the install !!!!!!

Guess what - I don't pay personally ;)

 I'd rather spend it on goodies for the car! Or the Austrailian beer fest.

How are the £30 quid pm jobbies?

Harve, who's youre local cable supplier?

Usually you can get a much better deal from a cable bundle (ntl or telewest) than from BT ADSL.

I say this even as a satellite supplier!

Hello Harve,

I went to broadband about 4 months back and Pipex was suggested by a few guys on here. Have to say I'm very happy with their service. £23 a month for 24 hour availability and your phone line is never tied up.

I use Freeserve which is via BT. £29.99 per month, 24 hour, can use phone line at the same time, faultless since connected in early June. I suspect that all of the ones through BT are the same though so I shouldn't worry about which ISP you use.

Hairsy's right - ALL ADSL is from BT Wholesale whether you get it from BT Openworld or Pipex or Fred Bloggs.

(Unless you're in Hull).

But I haven't yet found any deal which betters cable digital bundles - if they're in your area. Check out the availability & the price.

ADSL is next best (just choose your supplier by price / recommendation)

Then satellite.

The sickening thing is Milton Keynes is completely connected by cable - rented to NTL from BT - has been for several years but NTL have still not offered any broadband connections

Anyway be careful choosing Pipex as if it works great but if you have problems the customer service can be very lousy (very hard to get to speak to someone) from what i have read - though i know a person who has it nad has been very happy!

You can get ADSL for about £12 a month now on some deals - but beware as to how long those companies last (1 has already gone bust...) Around £20-24 is a reasonable price....

I use newnet (http://www.newnet.co.uk) at work for ADSL, they seem very reliable and we get a good connection. Did have BTopenworld but the service was not very good.

The worst thing is I cant get ADSL broadband in my village just outside MK, as i am 6.5KM away from the exchange - you need to be a max of 5.5KM!!! That is bloody Annoying!

Anyway I use Eclipse internet for my 56K which has been great, I know they do ADSL too.

Shame i cannot afford the satellite like Andy!

Cheers

Barry

The satellite is a bargain for me because my ISDN bill used to be ~£130 (+VAT) per month for work, plus my personal BTinternet bill of £15.99
